A Message From The 90% (With Jobs) to The 10% Without Jobs
By | Tuesday, October 25th, 2011 | Politics

Live up to your own standard, Occupiers.

Great rant.  Because at the end of the day, we really are all laughing at you.

Love,

The 90%.

Good clip. Reminds me of a bumper sticker I saw about 40 years ago:

“Ban coal mining. Let the bastards starve to death in the dark.”

By their own logic, Occupy Wall Street is now a corporate special interest with a massive war chest poised to influence the political process in a way they feel should be completely illegal. Hypocrisy in the movement is reaching new heights daily. – Max

Kind of like the Tea Party, except without the massive war chest.

It would be nice if there were 90% with jobs but its more like 87%.

Actually many of the Occupiers (BTW a name they usually apply to US Army soldiers on a mission – they don’t seem swift at seeing irony) have “jobs”. They are the jobs supported by the Dems where the work is not measured or important to anyone. So they can take a few months to hang out and still get paid. What difference the kind of non-work they do as long it supports the class warfare mantra and shields the cronies from scorn. Let’s march past the Wall Street swindler George Soros and throw tomatoes at the manufacturing CEOs who happen to fund Repubs. That will teach those Wall St types. Let’s attack the corporate buying of politicians but never complain about an Obama fundraiser in NYC. When their expensive toys get stolen from the tent it must have been the 1% who stole them. Of course some don’t raise their voice when they find their Coach handbags and top of the line iPhones gone. Someone might think that they were part of the 1%. Maybe the funniest item is that Elizabeth Warren is claiming to be the “intellectual” founder of the Occupy movement. Lots of intellect being displayed on all sides.

    val,

Actually, the unemployment rate of people who have a four-year college education is 4.2%

    http://www.bls.gov/news.release/empsit.t04.htm

Now then, when you back out the college graduates who got a degree in something useful, like engineering, computer science, or accounting, then you are left with the self-indulgent losers who majored in theater, women’s studies, or art history. They are not the 99%. They are the 1%.

But the world owes them a living.

    HisRoc,
I have a chart on global warming I can provide. Why would they merge HS grads with GEDs but not Associate Degrees with Bachelors?

The stimulas money was targeted at universities (and states), for their research…not to the private sector. Our local governments only do business with their pet developers (no names mentioned), they restrict to non-profits and they are actually destroying our manufacturing, taxicabs and Gibson. I can continue.

The government is so far into our economic system, no stat can capture the true economic health. Most of those companies in which he mentioned were probably started by a Associates Degree or below.

Not knocking education but it isn’t what’s driving this unemployment train…that’s called training. Besides, NASA is into the Muslim Outreach so that Gay Islamic Basket Weaving degree may come in handy at NASA.

    Shaun,
Excellent video but we all know what this “Occupy…” movement is. It is intended for a revolution.

    JJ

Bureau of Labor Statistics would merge HS and GED because of their equivalence. There is no equivalence between Associate and BA (leaving aside the question of the economic utility of the degree). BLS is part of the government and naturally wants the government to look good short of committing outright fraud; It is not even a partisan thing although they might feel more elan with a Dem. Only a very small proportion of stimulus money was targeted for universities. Most went to shore up the public sector unions who work for state govt or in itty bitty McGovernite checks.
There is no question that On Average better educated people do economically better in almost every society. There are a variety of reasons why that is true and I do agree that Quality job training can substitute for some years of academic education in a good proportion of jobs (Germany is particularly good with this.) and always forms an essential supplement to it. I think you me and HisRoc all agree that the leftists have dumbed down job training and academics as much by guiding people into non useful areas as by changes in grading etc.

  9. John Jackson October 26, 2011 11:38 am

What about the difference between a PhD and Bachelors? Normally, a person to drop out of high school has some underlying issues so that the stat is skewed also.

As I agree with both you and HisRoc on the overall subject but to justify a college education is getting ahead is a fallacy now days. We have entered into complete Social engineering to where your status is determined by how someone in an authoritative position determines your worth.

$87B to educational institutions that was directly for student aid

Grants were also awarded for different research projects and assistance to cities for studies, etc.

Getcher jobs, Right Here! Engineers, Computer Gurus, Accountants, listen up!

Have you ever wondered about those job listings for a brand new programming language that requires 20 years of experience?

Or how about the ad that misspells a common certification or lists job duties from out in left field?

Just one more question. Do you have a defibrillator close at hand? If you answered NO, then don’t watch this video.

Just keep paying that student loan. Enjoy your job search.

All of a sudden, the far right seems to have broken out in a cold hard sweat, realizing that 99% of the citizens are doing much worse, while 1% continue to thrive and to gain wealth. Now some would suggest that workers should just double their effort, but of course, when the system has been rigged, that suggestion falls dismally short.

Fact is, the tax system has helped to cause this trend, which is a bad trend for a consumer oriented economy. With the top 1% able to buy fine wine, take European vacations, and larger boats and airplanes while the rest are shopping at Cosco, it does not bode well to have a declining middle class.

Justice and fairness cry out for reform, which of course, the protectors of the super rich, ie, the republicans, oppose. Must have that 15% rate for long term capital gains on securities, even if that is with other people’s money. Frankly, given past history, when are nation was prosperous, taxes were higher, but today, for republicans, the mantra of tax cuts trumps experience, fact, and common sense.

But I doubt the 99% will stand for that much longer.
