Thank you!

Ken, Kim, Miranda, Adam, and Dylan at the 2011 Buddy Walk in support of Josh

Josh’s team had an enormous presence in the Down Syndrome Association of Hampton Roads Buddy Walk thanks in large part to the generosity of the kind contributors to and readers of Bearing Drift.

We initially set out to raise $500.  When we blew past that number in just two days, we increased our goal to $1,000.  We ended up raising $1,657.25 – the third-highest amount out of over 100 fundraisers for this event!

Hundreds of dollars of this amount came from readers of and contributors to Bearing Drift, including several people that I have never met.  The contributors included people who have posted comments representing the conservative views that are predominant here at Bearing Drift as well as some moderates and several liberals who have almost never agreed with any of my political views.  These good people showed that where ideological differences can (and sometimes should) divide us, our common humanity unites us all.

Josh remains in the ICU and has had some setbacks recently.  We remain optimistic and determined to get him home as soon as we can.  The support that we received in both contributions to the Buddy Walk and the thoughts and prayers sent our way over the past months continues to lift us up and give us strength.

My family thanks you from the bottom of our hearts.
