Only Maryland Can Produce Something THIS UGLY
By Shaun Kenney | Monday, September 5th, 2011 | Catch-All, Sports
That’s hideous.
The Terps warmed up in different uniforms, including helmets. The original helmets used a Tortoise shell design, consistent with the school’s “Fear the Turtle” slogan. But when the players came back out of the locker room for the kickoff, though, they were in completely different garb, including the helmets.
Pro-tip: Go back to the old uniforms… and don’t ever wear these again.

Shaun,
It’s the same color scheme from the Maryland state flag and state seal. It’s a hybrid of the Calvert (black and gold) and Crossland (red and white) family coats of arms.
They are ugly, BUT if that’s what it takes to beat Miami…. (Well, ugly unis and a little help from the NCAA.)
@ Henry,
I think everyone knew what it was, and it was ugly.
Makes an ugly flag and an awesomely ugly football uniform.
No wonder Miami lost. It’s hard to play football when you’re holding your sides and laughing your ass off.
“Fear The Helmet” and “Maryland Wins Ugly” were just a couple of the headlines on the sports pages today as everyone from SI to USA Today commented on these butt-ugly threads. Just what were they thinking?
Go Terps! I agree with everyone though…those uniforms are horrible.
They make Miami’s uniforms look good. And Miami’s uniforms look like something the one poor, rural school in your high school district wore.
Which old uniforms? The Terps have so many different uniforms, and combinations of uniforms, that they’ve now become the Oregon Ducks of the East.
