I’ll preempt Mr Kirwin and suggest a Christie-McDonnell ticket.

I will support anyone that Bob McDonnell runs with as VP regardless.

Yes, these two really deserve each other. Benefit the most from federal outlays while criticizing the federal government for raising taxes. Borrow from every conceivable source, maxing out the state’s credit card, worsening the status of VRS, while claiming a budget surplus which looks more and more like a figment of the Governor’s imagination. Defer maintenance of the state’s transportation infrastructure, take money from construction and put it to maintenance, cut off localities from any construction funds for roads, thereby making them raise the funds locally, yet claim that you are a conservative. Frankly, this is the record of a Governor that believes none of us notice, or if we do, he can overwhelm everyone else with fast talking and a great PR staff.

Yes, Obama and Biden and Kaine really deserve each other. Benefit the most from corporate bank accounts and install your cronies as CEOs of companies you decide are too big to fail and pay them big bonuses while criticizing the corporations as enemies to the people. Borrow from every conceivable source and country, maxing out the nation’s credit card, worsening the economic status of the US, while claiming budget cuts which looks more and more like a figment of the President’s imagination. Pretend to do maintenance of the nation’s transportation infrastructure and then laugh that there are no shovel ready jobs, appoint as party chairman a governor who “lost” millions of dollars in the state transportation fund, take money from middle class taxpayers and put it to union featherbedding and riots, enact all kinds of regulatory constraints then selectively enforce according to political influence, yet claim that you are not a socialist. Frankly, this is the record of a President and party that believes none of us notice, or if we do, they can overwhelm everyone else with fast talking and a great PR staff.

Christie is your choice if you’re looking for someone to the left of Jon Huntsman.

On the job front, McD has underpromised and overdelivered, Mike.. Obama promised no greater than 8% unemployment. Under Perrys watch unemployment is low.. attribute it to anything you want Mike but that looks good to voters, even to you libs in the bread line. Warts and all, a Perry – McDonnell ticket would be tough for the center indys to say no to… I am betting he needs Cain to support his candidacy to pull it off.

I thought Christie showed courage and commitment to his constituents when he basically told Cantor to shove it. It takes a Governor who has to fulfill the executive function to see through all the blather of the libertarians around us who if it were left to them, the people of New Orleans would still be floating in the water.

At least our rest stops are open for business which earns McDonnell a place on the ticket. Gov. McDonnell knows how to take out the trash and flush the commode.

Guess will need to raid the piggy bank and go to the lunch. Would like to see the future GOP national ticket while the tickets are still cheap.
The twilight zone democrats are talking like 2012 is going to be another 1994. Dick Morris says that Barry’s approval rating may drop below 30%. Starting to wonder just how bad it will be for a democrat in 14 months.

A picture says a thousand words.

Yes Tim J, this Governor sure knows how to borrow. It is amazing that the fiscal conservatives on this forum who swear we must live within our means give praise to a Governor who has borrowed to hilt, financing bonds with federal revenue anticipation notes that are most unlikely because the national republicans will cut transportation funds, borrowing from VRS, borrowing sales tax revenue from the next year, essentially borrowing from our children by not maintaining our transportation infrastructure. I guess he is given a pass hereon because he is so good at spinning his message while obfuscating what he has actually done.

Texas job growth is primarilly government jobs. I thought they didn’t count?

Bob McDonnell should be insulted that his friends at Bearing Drift would be willing to see him take a back seat to Rick Perry, the guy who was apparently misquoted in his own book. While I don’t always agree with McDonnell politically, he can typically get through a day without shooting himself in the foot, unlike Perry.

I’d say you guys have the ticket reversed, except I think Bob’s got enough political smarts that he wouldn’t want Perry on his ticket.

  13. Mike Barrett September 1, 2011 15:31 pm

Is it actually conceivable that the republicans would nominate a politician that actually does not believe in science? Apparently, that is the case. I mean we all enjoy that Texas drawl and the cowboy hats, but how could a major party actually consider nominating a man that denies reality?

“Under Perrys watch unemployment is low..”

8.4% is hardly low. You know who is ahead of Texas – pretty much the entire northeast quadrant of the country.

  15. Tim J September 1, 2011 16:41 pm

Why would any sane individual want that job, especially after the wholesale destruction that has been wrought on our economy and our businesses. Cleaning up the Socialist ooze in our country from this Administration will be like cleaning up after the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989.

  16. Mike Barrett September 1, 2011 19:47 pm

Yes Tim J, I feel the same way about the task that beset the President who faced the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression. Clearly, snapping ones fingers and thinking the disastrous policies of the Bush Administration could be easily reversed was overly optimistic.

Perry – ? (hope its McDonnell) This might keep Trump out of the general and take out Obama.

  18. Tim J September 1, 2011 21:29 pm

So Mike, you finally admit that Obama isn’t up to it and is probably insane… I agree. Which insane Republican are you going to vote for to clean up both messes?
