NASTY Robocalls in the 22nd…
By | Friday, August 19th, 2011 | Politics

…all of them attacking Mark Peake so far, all of them saying Peake stands with Obama on Obamacare — and another attack on Peake that was nothing I’d want my son answering.

No disclaimer on either.

434.376.2451 and 434.525.5515 are your offending numbers, both from Lynchburg, and both VOIP — the 5515 coming from IP 67.163.98.78 – a Comcast Cable line, with a simple WHOIS IP search giving me the following information:

OrgAbuseHandle: NAPO-ARIN
OrgAbuseName: Network Abuse and Policy Observance
OrgAbusePhone: +1-856-317-7272
OrgAbuseEmail: abuse@comcast.net
OrgAbuseRef: http://whois.arin.net/rest/poc/NAPO-ARIN

So I called the abuse hotline… pressed 3… pressed 3 again for fraudulent calls… pressed 3 again for fraudulent calls over a Comcast line or IP… and spoke with Alex who said that the phone calls couldn’t be stopped.. but I could call 877.382.4357 and complain directly.  If I was a Comcast customer, I could press *60 to block, or *57 to report to the police.

Any thoughts?

You might want to take a close look at the Lynchburg Tea Party. They seem to hate Peake.

    What Jim said.

-I have spoken with a friend in the Tom Garrett campaign and they are legitametly disgusted with the calls.

-One of the members of the Lynchburg Tea Party received the robocall and immediatley contacted the Peake campaign.

-The Peake campaign has ruled out Brian Rhode of being involved. One of calls stated they were calling from Rhode’s campaign. So this is now a situation where the law has been broken.

-Claudia Tucker commented on the Lynchburg News and Advance website stated her disgust at the calls. She seemed sincere.

-Although not a member, I do know many people in the Lynchburg Tea Party and really doubt their involvement. They are passionate but they are not lawbreakers.

All of this is subjective but if truth that leaves only one campaign that could be the culprit: Bates.

    That is my guess.

I hope whoever has committed this crime is found out and punished.

W- I know Bates well and have known him for over 15 years. This was not him. I tried to run the phone numbers down and was not successful. Reverse phone number tracking shows one of the numbers, the first one, from two Campbell County addresses.

Tucker, after digging deeper I agree with you. I have a hunch of who I think it might be (hint: none of the Republicans) but I don’t have quite enough to tie it up.
