Jeff Evans Puts Guns Into The Mouths Of Suspects
By | Tuesday, August 16th, 2011 | Politics

…and admits to doing so on the air.

Wow.   I mean, holy wow.

Evans:  ”Well Alton…. you know, that might be… I’d say if we talked to enough state troopers or police officers anywhere, them things may have happened — but that’s in the past…”

I’ll give Jeff this much credit — Evans didn’t dodge it.  That takes a heck of a lot of guts.  He admitted it, embraced it, and took it like a man.

…a man that puts guns in the mouths of suspects while serving as a Virginia State Trooper.

Announcer: “Are you proud of your service as a state trooper?”

Evans: “Absolutely.”

Fast forward to 7:40, and information comes forward on racial slurs being used.  The announcer presses Evans on using racial slurs, and does not deny having used them, but denies abusing any of his suspects.  On racial slurs, Evans does elaborate:

Evans:  ”In years past, there’s things that you’ll say and things that you’ll do — and mindsets you’ll have — because of situations you’re in.  That does not make you a mean or bad person.  And that’s whether you’re of African-American descent or white descent — it don’t matter what you are.  We all have had things that were said.  But as far as being racial?  I don’t even like the word racial… and well it’s a lie.  You know, it’s a lie.  When you know someone and you have a discussion with someone and you talk, and you talk about past stuff, but that does not mean things that are in the past…. I think every one of us have things we’re ashamed of in our lives.  I’ve never been perfect.  I’ve never done things that I didn’t sometimes regret, and I admit to that.  But I got saved in 1983, and I’ll be honest with you — the Lord forgave me of those things, and I put a lot of those things behind me in my life.  My life changed.”

Frankly, I’m horrified.  As a strong supporter of law enforcement, I can assure folks that Jeff Evans’ admission is completely out of bounds and in no way representative of the class, professionalism, and service of our Virginia State Troopers.  How this could be coming to the surface just now absolutely shocks me.

Jeff Evans is running for state senate as an independent against incumbent Democrat Roscoe Reynolds and Republican challenger Bill Stanley for the 20th State Senate seat in Virginia.

With Evans in the 20th and Garrett in the 22nd we really have some real losers running this year.WTH are these candidates thinking ? Do they really think they can escape their dirty deeds ? If they are lucky enough to get a pass with their Republican opponents are they stupid enough to think the Democrats won’t use this stuff ?

Pure gold for the ratings of her call-in show and some really bad blood between Evans and the caller. Evans was saved by the Lord and he apparently dry cleaned his white sheets and his Aryan nation uniform that he carried around in the trunk of his State Trooper vehicle and packed them away just in time for his turn at politics. I wish some of his victims would have called in… or maybe they can’t…

Woof! How can you be sitting there and say that and not knwo that it ends whatever small chance you ever had to be elected to anything?

I’ll give him this much — he didn’t backtrack, he didn’t run. Evans fessed up and said he took it to the Lord and was forgiven back in 1983.

    But wow…

Jeff Evans is someone who should not be a candidate under any banner. He was going to run as a Republican and failed to follow proper procedures and read the rules. So he runs as an independent. I gave him money last campaign and am sorry I ever did. For him to admit what he did in the interview is just amazing. He should have one of the people who he put a gun in the mouth of come forward and take him to court. I do not believe his assertion that all State Troopers followed his ideas and practices.

If God forgives him, that’s great. Doesn’t mean anybody else has to. Lots of folks find God in prison. Doesn’t mean we should let them out.

God forgave the thief on the cross too yet he didn’t get to come down…

Admission and even God’s forgiveness doesn’t absolve you from the consequences of your actions. This man needs to go.
