Too Conservative: Ramadan’s Chutzpah
By Shaun Kenney | Tuesday, August 9th, 2011 | PoliticsNote to prospective GOP candidate David-Imad Ramadan — don’t you have to kinda, I dunno… win the seat first before you go around buying the license plates?
From Loudoun Insider:
This is a truck registered to David Ramadan with a two-sided Ramadan for Delegate sign in the bed of the truck (you can barely see the sign due to the angle of the photo). The license plate is a vanity plate with HOD 87 on it - this plate being obtained by him prior to him even winning a contested primary race, let alone the general election for the House of Delegates 87th District seat. I cannot stand this kind of arrogance. Hopefully that ticket on the windshield is for shameless audacity (the Webster’s definition of chutzpah).
Ouch.
One more reason to vote for Jo Ann Chase in HOD 87, folks. The last thing we need is another politician who thinks the privilege of representing “We The People” belongs to them.

I don’t know either of these candidates and don’t have a dog in this fight, but c’mon, I think this is a stretch. The guy is running for the House of Delegates in the 87th District, and he got a license plate that states the district in which he is running. If he somehow started displaying an official HOD license plate that would be different. But I hardly think this license plate signifies that he thinks he’s entitled to the seat.
On the heels a previous post that repeated a bunch of unsubstantiated rumors and innuendo about this guy based largely on his religion, I respectfully submit that this looks to me a bit like piling on.
Jo-Ann Chase is a certified nutcase. But vote for the loon because her opponent has vanity license plates that say “HOD 87.” Yeah, that makes a lot of sense.
My brother lives in Charlottesille and has for over 30 years, and according to him you have much bigger problems down there than intraparty contests miles away.
Maybe it wouldn’t BE the People’s Republic of Albemarle if the Rs there weren’t focused on license plates in Loudoun?
It looks to me like Ken failed to pick up the sarcasm of Greg L.who is rumored to be on the Ramadan payroll. The questions about Ramadan have little to do with his religion. No one, including Mr. Ramadan, seems to be sure exactly what that is. What is of concern are a number of other issues with his background that lead to legitimate questions about his revenue sources and his political agenda.
newb, try to keep up: David is primarily self financing, which is good, but bad, because then no one can b*tch about his donors and it proves he’s got money but probably not just from working hard, and being smart and successful.
A lot of his self-financing money comes from overseas franchises of Curves, which is good in the business sense of thinking to bring a women-only service to those areas, both Muslim and Hindu, but really bad in the business sense because India and the Middle East don’t create jobs in Loudoun, even though there are lots of Indian and Middle Eastern votes in Loudoun, but that’s goodbad/badgood.
Do you get it yet? I’m sure you do.
It’s primary countdown, so anything goes, right?
Especially if the object is to keep people hysterically focused on the inability to prove a negative, particularly since all Muslims lie.
I’m with Ken on this one. He took took the word right of my mouth. This does not strike me as funny or tongue in cheek. If was supposed to be a joke, I missed the punch line. The guy is running for office and he bought a cute license plate. And the point is…????

ok – so is this a ticket?
sure looks like one.
another step into muck and mire?
Stop the presses! Call the Washington Post! There just might be a parking ticket on the truck! Horrors!
well, at least Shaun is not attacking him for being muslim or having mortgage problems like everyone else in the country anymore
Ramadan is a very good person. Governor Bob appointed him to the Board of Governos of George Mason Universirty – a very prestigious appointment for a Northern Virginian. Chris LaCivita is his campaign consultant. Are these two well known and respected Virginia Republicans sell-outs? If you have a problem with Ramadan pick up the phone and call him and talk to him man to man. The guy is an international businessman and is running for the House of Delegates. If his name was Jim Smith you all would be applauding him for bringing his experience to the House. His opponent is certifiable and everyone in NOVA knows it. Despite the racism and religious bigotry still tolerated by some in the GOP, which is a real shame, David will win.
@Ron –
How is it racism and bigotry to say that folks should perhaps — I dunno — wait to win the seat before they get the license plates struck?
@Publius –
Not everyone is supposed to agree with op-eds…
Of course it isn’t racism and bigotry to make fun of campaign license plates.
It’s just another non-issue based dig in a campaign filled with much more serious attacks.
I guess it is better to be a vanilla attacker when you have things of your own to continue to try to sell, one of which is your reputation for credibility, teetering in the wake of your blog advocacy in this race.
Greg Letiecq is on Ramadan’s payroll! Check out his blog on “the American Dream candidate” in Black Velvet Bruce Li; he developed the video.www.bvbl.net, by the way, a blog full of bigotry, intolerance and racism.
Yes, by all means, check out http://www.bvbl.net/index.php/2011/08/10/this-is-what-happens-when-you-threaten-bvbl/
