Reid flips the American people the bird with “Supercommittee” picks
By | Tuesday, August 9th, 2011 | Policy

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has selected Senators Patty Murray, Max Baucus, and John Kerry to serve on the so-called “Supercommittee” tasked with selecting $1.5 trillion in spending cuts as part of the recent debt ceiling deal.  These selections show that Reid and the Democrats are emphatically opposed to taking action to reduce the deficit.

Patty Murray is the Chairwoman of the Democrat Senatorial Campaign Committee, the fundraising arm of the Senate Democrat Caucus.  The idea that the senator most responsible for raising money for her caucus will make bold and courageous budget cuts is beyond absurd, especially given her record and history as a hard-line movement leftist.

John Kerry (who served in Vietnam) is also a diehard movement leftist who demonstrated that he cannot be taken seriously when he recently called on the entire news media to stop covering the tea party because, in his Alice-in-Wonderland world, the tea party was responsible for the downgrading of our bond rating through their efforts to cut spending.  (Don’t even try to make sense of it.  Your brain will just get tied up in knots, and your head will end up looking like, well, John Kerry’s.)

Max Baucus, as Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, has worked diligently to prevent any meaningful reforms of the entitlement programs that are bankrupting the country.

So, now that the Democrats have shown their hand and demonstrated that they are digging in and doubling down on maintaining multi-trillion-dollar debt and deficits, how should the Republicans respond?  That’s an easy one:  Appoint tea party conservatives to the Supercommittee.  My choices would be Mike Lee, Rand Paul, and Rob Johnson.

They have to agree or the agreed to cuts go into place.

Honestly, looks like we’re going to cut defense spending by billions. That will be good for our local area…

Umm. Does it really matter who the Dems pick? Doesn’t the machine control everyone’s fingertips. The only suspense is which Repub selected is going to vote with the Dems.
