Is McDonnell about to become Chariman of the Republican Governors Association?
By Ken Falkenstein | Wednesday, August 3rd, 2011 | Politics
Washington Post’s The Fix notes that if Texas Governor Rick Perry enters the presidential race, as expected, then he would step down as Chairman of the Republican Governors Association, and Vice Chairman Bob McDonnell would ascend to the chairmanship:
If, as expected, Texas Gov. Rick Perry decides to run for president in 2012, the biggest winner may well be Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell.McDonnell, elected as governor of the Commonwealth in 2009, is currently the vice chairman of the Republican Governors Association — serving under Perry.
Perry would vacate his chairmanship if he were to pursue the presidency and McDonnell would step into a job that has emerged as a powerful perch and potential springboard into national politics in recent years.

If they make him “Chariman,” he should refuse the post as a joke and beneath him.
