Rep. Wolf Supports Gang of Six Budget Proposal
By | Wednesday, July 20th, 2011 | Policy

If this doesn’t make sense, don’t worry we are in agreement.

Yesterday, Rep. Frank Wolf (R-Va.) and Rep. Jim Cooper (D-Tenn.) urged House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) to support the debt plan proposed by the “Gang of Six” in the U.S. Senate. You can read the letter here.

“We applaud this effort and ask that you provide the opportunity to vote on this proposal as part of any request for an increase in the debt ceiling before the August 2nd debt ceiling deadline.”

Wow…talk about selling your soul to the devil. Why would anyone support the crap that the “Gang of Six” proposes? Hopefully, Boehner won’t agree to this disastrous move.

Ever notice that Millionaire Mark Warner’s tax increase proposals always seem to be accompanied by AAA bond ratings threats if we don’t pass it?

  2. Mike Barrett July 20, 2011 14:33 pm

I guess the fact that this plan will actually reduce tax rates, will cut the deficit, will stabilize the debt at a manageable level, will provide cuts advocated by all, and will increase revenue by closing loop holes and tax credits that are simply not necessary, is a real blow to the right wing. After all, their efforts to demonize the President, and anyone who is not in the tea party, could suffer a mortal blow when this agreement in concept is fleshed out and passed. Some have said herein they would prefer default to this solution, which raises the real question of whether these wing nuts are rational beings.

Let me make a prediction. The gang of Six plan will last only as long as it takes for Dems to scuttle cut cap and balance. Isn’t it a remarkable coincidence that their talks went nowhere until the Repubs started with CCB. The leftist groups are already starting to murmur against it. Then Mark Warner will say that the plan needs to be tweaked. Revenue first and then tax cuts in the sweet by and by. I’m so glad that Repubs are rushing to endorse this phantom. Lets give Dems a chance to vote for deficit reduction without having to do it. You know, John Kerry style.

  4. Publius July 20, 2011 20:16 pm

Not surprised that Wolf would support it; particularly given his tenure on the Hill. I remember when he was just another dad in the neighborhood, promising to not to become a career poltician, and going to set the record straight in Washington. Yeah, I was four years old then and I’m going to be 35 in the next few months. Self preservation and Potomac Fever are a bitch for the welfare class; aka career politicians.

  5. Tim J July 21, 2011 13:25 pm

And the beat goes on… higher unemployment, gas prices rising, the space program has ended, rolling power outages, consumers relying on credit cards and food stamps to live, Obama’s poll numbers plummeting and he’s flip flopping on a short term debt limit extension, new videos by Big Sis that show white, middle class Americans are most likely to be terrorists, the Senate 6-pack is mumbling about this and that but there’s nothing, stock market swinging wildly between extremes being driven by rumors and tweets from the NY Times, and the CC&B is the only legislation on the table before the debt Armageddon which the Senate will likely vote it down. The only thing to look forward to is the big gun show at the Hampton Coliseum this weekend.

  6. ToR July 21, 2011 15:45 pm

Rep. Wolf has some common sense. Good work Representative. Now if you can convince the rest of our Congressional delegation to follow your lead and get us out of this mess.

  7. Mike Barrett July 21, 2011 15:56 pm

Yes, the last few weeks in which business leaders, economists, small business men and women, seniors of all stripes, advocates for the safety net, executives, bankers, et al have been detailing for all who will listen the disastrous effects of default, yet the tea party, and the far right republicans who fawn over them, have been abandoned by those who believe in reaponsible governance. One pension fund executive today on CNBC said effects of considering default have already built in higher interest rates for Treasuries. So the damage may have started already, and the fault for higher debt costs have started, and the republican House of Representatives majority is responsible. Further, if their draconian budget were to be adopted, the effects would be immediate; that is, recession, high unemployment, interest rate hikes, international slow down, and misery for all those who live at the margins. Let us hope that those who were once responsible republicans follow Wolf’s lead and realize that the deal on the table is good for America.

  8. Tim J July 21, 2011 16:48 pm

“recession, high unemployment, interest rate hikes, international slow down, and misery for all those who live at the margins.”… so what will be different with a “draconian budget” than what is happening now?

  9. Mike Barrett July 21, 2011 20:06 pm

Tim J, I would have expected you to say exactly that. But in the coming bifurcation, you will really need to decide; are you with the far right, tea party fawning part of the republican party, willing to steer as directed by Norquist into the iceberg and sink the ship, or, are you with the republican party, that believes in capitalism and entreprenuerism, but has no desire to sink the ship and acknowledges that negotiation and compromise are part of our nation’s history. So far, you have left little doubt where you stand, so I hope there is room for you on the raft.

  10. Pat Robertson July 21, 2011 20:08 pm

Well, there “there” they go again…Democrats posing as Republicans and elected as Republicans…saying “Listen to us”. Whenever there is a “gang” in congress coming forth with a better plan, it’s usually the same old…same old.

It surprises no one in Virginia who is a conservative to see good old Frank Wolfe, lining up with a blue dog Democrat from Tennessee ( that title is suppose to mean he’s a conservative and/or moderate) to support that “new plan” being pushed by the latest “gang” in Washington. What a joke. And they want you to bite on the bait.

US Representative Frank Wolfe is no better than Mitch McConnell who is no better than the renegade, turncoat, traitorous Republicans like Mike Crapo (love that name for someone who is a two-faced politician), Saxby Chambliss (what a disappointment) or Tom Coburn ( what in the heck is he doing in that gang of weasels).

I used to like Coburn and was a big fan of his but when you lie down with dogs…you pick up the fleas. What a waste.

Anyway, back to Virginia. How long will the voters, Tea Partier’s, Independents and conservatives allow Frank Wolfe to stay in the 10th district? I see someone being “fired” by the voters…and soon.

Sorry, folks, that I am so caustic today. I am so tired of the “other” types of Republican who keep “crapping” ( no pun on Senator Mike Crapo) on CUT, CAP AND BALANCE.

  11. Pat Robertson July 21, 2011 20:17 pm

I stand with the Tea Party, the Independents, the conservatives and all those that want to escape from the socialists that are wanting to go back
to the failed politics of Europe. The Democrats and wannabe Democrats who have sold their soul to socialism are headed down the path to destroying capitalism and freedom.

  12. Pat Robertson July 21, 2011 20:22 pm

Stand firm Tim J. You are on the right path, my friend, and not leaning leftward to destruction and tyranny.

  13. LittleDavid July 21, 2011 20:24 pm

    Pat,

You are trying to cast too wide a net of those you stand with. Your net actually has wide holes in it which allows most of the fish to escape.

  14. Pat Robertson July 21, 2011 20:32 pm

Hey, Mike, why don’t you invite your buddy Frank Wolfe into your Democrat Party? You would gain a Democrat congressman and the Republicans would be rid of a Judas Goat wanting to lead them into a “snare” and definitely not into a “safety net”.

I had to laugh at how ridiculous it would be to call a “destruction” of private enterprise a “safety net”. Only a left winger would think “crazy” like that. But you have a right to your opinion or your propaganda.

  15. Pat Robertson July 21, 2011 20:41 pm

Hey, chief, how are you doing? I was a QM2 on an AKA, the USS RANKIN 103. We spent a lot of time down in the Caribbean and I found out what it was like being in the Gator Navy. Lots of work. What rating did you have? Were you a bos’n?

  16. LittleDavid July 21, 2011 21:13 pm

    Pat,

No I was a twidget. I am sure you know what that means but others might not. I was an Electronics Technician.

The sea duty commands I served at were: USS Jack SSN-605, USS Sampson DDG-10, USS Forrestal CV-59, Beach Master Unit Two BMU-2, USS Portland LSD-37 and USS George Washington CVN-73.

  17. Pat Robertson July 21, 2011 23:29 pm

Wow, David, I am impressed. I wanted to serve on an aircraft carrier, or a cruiser, or a frigate…or any warship. And you were on a nuclear submarine, as well? Out-a-sight.

I started out on the decks in 1st division up at the bow, but it was the bridge where I wanted to be. I had the aptitude and I worked my way up to the bridge in about 3 months. Really ticked off the division bos’n when I went up the line…but it got me up close to the radio room and CIC and I liked that. And signals was in the QM rating at that time and I liked that but they put that over to a signalman rating all by itself later.

I’m probably telling my age now. So much has changed since I was in the service. We had Loran to navigate by and I understand they have gone far beyond that. And the AKA I was on would have been dwarfed by your CVN-73.

The USS Rankin was an old World War II cargo ship and we went down to Roosevelt Roads and conducted exercises with the Marines quite a bit and then we were sent over to Haiti (Poppa Doc Duval) was giving the US a hard time then and we circled that island for months at a time before we ever got any liberty.

Nothing as exciting as some of the ships you were on. WOW.
CV-59 and then the nuclear George Washington. That ship is soooo
big. I would have liked being up on the bridge of that ship.

The gator navy is not so bad. Some of those off loads and then standing by until you on loaded again kept you busy. And with all
those wenches being as greasy as they were and opening and closing all those hatches with the munitions and tanks and such…it seemed like the ship was always hard to keep clean.

I wasn’t a “lifer” and was home within two years. They were having a shortage in navigation and offered me a rating of QM1, but my father was in poor health and I wanted to be near him.

Good show, shipmate. You served twenty years. Thanks for the service.

  18. Pat Robertson July 21, 2011 23:46 pm

Oh, and David, I noticed you were on the USS Portland, those landing ships were part of the gator navy, also. So you spent some time there as well? Cool.

OK. Don’t be mad. But how did you wind up being liberal? LOL. That’s OK…we can’t all be perfect.

One last note. I used to truck some also. I had a Harvester International with 16 gears to get up and over and down those mountains in the West. I drove for Tri-state out of Joplin, Mo, in my own cab over and leased my truck to them. Diesel was really cheap back in the sixties. I don’t know how you guys make any money today with the price of diesel higher than gasoline.

  19. LittleDavid July 21, 2011 23:51 pm

    Pat,

Back when I started out, I maintained that Loran receiver. It was only the backup for the more modern devices.

I would imagine that today’s Quartermasters do not have half the navigation skills you possessed. Today’s Quartermasters are spoiled by GPS and God help them if it goes down because they will then be lost.

But we need to stop this love fest. I respect your naval service and I understand that you respect mine. But after that commonality when it comes to politics we diverge.

I hope that while we disagree we can still pause to salute our shipmates.

  20. Pat Robertson July 22, 2011 01:11 am

David, You know it buddy. I was pulling your leg…so to speak. When we were out to sea for any length of time, my shipmates and I used to insult each other to break the boredom.

I don’t know what time you came in but I was at Norfolk in April of 1963 where the Rankin was based when I heard of the news of the SSN Thresher…and she was the pride of the Navy in her class.

And I remember you saying you were on an SSN. Were you there at that time? I was stressed out that we lost such a new boat with all hands while they were doing a routine dive. It was a very, very sad time.

  21. Pat Robertson July 22, 2011 01:24 am

    David,

Opps. It just dawned on me. You said that you maintained the Loran as a back up for the more modern devices. You came into the US Navy quite some time later, evidently.

So, you wouldn’t have been around during the early to mid sixties, of course when the Thresher went down. It put a gloom all over the Eastern seaboard. She was in our operating area. She went down about 200 miles East of Boston.

  22. Pat Robertson July 22, 2011 01:36 am

Love fest? I wasn’t having a love fest with you, David…I was reminiscing about the good old days. And believe me, I know that we diverge when it comes to politics.

And don’t worry, I still salute you, even if you are a wild eyed left wing socialist. Bless your soul, your just having a hard time understanding what America is all about.

  23. Jamie Jacoby July 22, 2011 08:28 am

The D’s must all have gotten their talking points fax about the Gang Plan. It’s mostly “revenue increases” and very little in cuts. Paul Ryan panned the hell out of it.

No wonder Obummer and Mike like it so much.

Google “National Review Ryan Dissects the Gang of Six Plan”

  24. Mike Barrett July 22, 2011 08:57 am

Yes, thanks Pat, and with your condemnation of Representative Wolf, you will of course need to ex-communicate the three conservative republicans that worked as part of the gang of six. Since they are among the most conservative republicans in the Senate, it is an indication of how small the Party will be when it is done with the purge. In fact, what will be left is a group of disgruntled, angry, mad, incompetents who for some reason thought they could have a coup in the House and get away with it. With public opinion now strongly against them, and the momentum having shifted towards compromise, they will be further left on the sidelines after their defeat and our victory. Lastly, the republican Mayor of Tuscon was on the radio this morning, speaking for 40 Mayors who met, called on Congress to move forward on the proposal from the gang of six. Most were republicans, or as you radical would say, RINOs. I guess they will be purged as well. On another topic, my first Navy assignment was aboard the USS SUFFOLK COUNTY (LST 1173) stationed here at Little Creek although we did not spend much time there.

  25. Not Blue Virginia July 22, 2011 09:27 am

Almost feeling sorry for the politicos. A majority of the voters do not want to raise the debt ceiling, want a balanced budget, do not want tax increases and do not want spending cuts.

Of course have no idea in the world what they are even talking about.

What is so hard about picking a number for the 2012 budget??

Lets forget about “cuts” 20 years in the future, would like to hear numbers for 2012.

I would think between 2.7 to 3 trillion to be reasonable.

Enough smoke and mirrors, pick a number guys.

Greece is going to have a controlled and restricted default.

  26. LittleDavid July 22, 2011 11:08 am

    Pat,

The USS Jack was a Thresher class submarine, although it had a unique propulsion system (counter rotating screws on a single shaft). For most of 1963 I would have been only 5 years old.

Since you were part of the gator Navy I am surprised you missed that I also served as a Beachmaster. While serving with BMU-2 I rode quite a few different gator Navy ships including a 6 month deployment to the Mediterranean aboard the USS Hermitage LSD-34. I am extremely familiar with the gator Navy, you can’t get more gator then being a Beachmaster “this beach is mine”.

  27. Mike Barrett July 22, 2011 11:34 am

Yes, we operated with the Beachmasters as well. The Suffolk County would carry those causeway sections on both the starboard and port sides of the ship. Of course, since we rolled 45 degrees on a regular basis, the sea would pound those causeways to try to shake them loose. The Beachmasters had to tend to those sections and tighten the strapes holding them onto the ship. What a job!

  28. LittleDavid July 22, 2011 12:05 pm

    Mike,

While as a Beachmaster I did once embark on the USS Harlan County LST-1196 for the dog and pony show of Fleet Week up in Boston, it was pretty unusual for Beachmasters to deploy on a LST. For real deployments we embarked on either an LSD or an LPD. The causeways on the LSTs were the responsibility of our sister organization, the Phib CB’s.

I never did like the ride of the LSTs. The shallow draft led to the extreme rolls you mentioned. I didn’t have to worry about getting sea sick by that time, but I did not appreciate having to walk on the bulkheads occasionally, grin.

  29. ToR July 22, 2011 14:51 pm

    @NBV

“A majority of the voters do not want to raise the debt ceiling, want a balanced budget, do not want tax increases and do not want spending cuts.”

Do you have any poll number or anything to back up that statement of did you just make it up?

  30. Pat Robertson July 22, 2011 16:03 pm

    Mike,

It’s great to see another Navy guy on the blog and another who served in the gator Navy. Thanks for your service, buddy.

As for the “radicals” who are trying to “purge” the GOP of those who are not as “pure” as the” rest of us”…I noticed that the Party that was once known as the Democrat Party (now the Socialist Party of the USA) did a pretty good job of “purging” the “Boll Weevils” from their Party.

You “radicals” did a good enough job of purging those Democrats who were not as pure as the rest of you to transform the Democrat Party over to the Socialist Party. Can you say, “Double Standard”?

The spending must STOP and we must BALANCE the budget and any phony “Republican” who votes like a Democrat to stop our efforts to CUT, CAP and BALANCE is not a Republican and is stabbing the Republicans (CONSERVATIVE PARTY) in the back. Get out the “purging” knife, baby. We have some paring to do.

I don’t mind the Democrats being socialist but the opposition Party (Republican) has a right to being conservative. Let McConnell put a D beside his name and join your efforts…he certainly doesn’t need to be undermining our efforts on CUT, CAP and BALANCE.

The same is true of Mike Crapo, or George Chambliss, or Tom Coburn…let them stay with their good old buddies like Dick Durbin (of Illinois, no less), Kent Conrad and Mark Warner. That’s a real gang all right. Al Capone had no qualms about shooting any of his own to gain what he wanted.

  31. Mike Barrett July 22, 2011 16:15 pm

Well of course, intra party conflict is not new, and the Parties continue to evolve. The pressure is really on the republicans right now because the far right frankly wants default, but that act in and of itself would likely doom the Party in future elections. The broad middle is not much interested in default, recession, and more unemployment, and the polls I have seen have shown a remarkable shift to the middle, even among republicans, showing that default is too high a price to pay for ideological purity. For the sake of the nation, I hope the outline of the plan from the gang of six is adopted so we can move forward.

  32. Pat Robertson July 22, 2011 16:20 pm

Some of those Republicans in the senate that I just mentioned are all over the map. McConnell, Crapo, Chambliss, and Coburn for instance are all known as “conservatives”.

Yet the most important issue of our time CUT, CAP and BALANCE is being undercut by these very same men. All the Democrats want at this time is more taxes, more spending and these Senate Republicans have been accommodating them EVER time the debt limit comes up.

These same “Republicans” keep giving the Democrats time extensions in the Senate. The House is going to put a stop to this and they CAN. The money comes from the House and not the Senate.

August 2nd is coming up soon. Can’t come soon enough,

  33. Mike Barrett July 22, 2011 16:34 pm

Well actually, no one disputes the need to cut, nor to balance. The issue is the time frame. The gang of six proposal would cut expenditures so that in ten years, the percentage of GDP for both revenue and expenses would be about 18%; in other words, in balance. Since the cuts exceed new revenues by a 3-1 ratio, it is clear that the House’s demands for cuts has been heard. But if the House Plan were to have been adopted, it would have been just as bad as default. It would have plunged us back into recession, GDP growth would have been negative, and debt would increase as well because of the loss of economic activity. As a business person, the last thing we need is another recession. Let us get on with quality growth and productivity.

  34. Pat Robertson July 22, 2011 16:36 pm

If default is what it takes to stop this insane spending…then default is what we need. We can still make our payments that we have to make to keep the debt interest paid up and we can still keep the essentials going.

But if the spending doesn’t stop then there will come a time that we will be in a position that we can’t extract ourselves from. NOW is the time to stop the spending before it is too late.

And your right, the pressure IS on the Republicans right now. They are the only ones that can stop this insanity of spending…the Democrats simply cannot. They are socialists for heavens sake.

And all this talk about the broad middle and the polls is what is called “Bull C____” down in Texas. I think that’s the words that they use. And if the majority of Republicans believe in this pie in the sky solution at solving the debt (by spending more?)…then there is no hope for the USA.

The Tea Party Patriots, the independents, the conservatives WILL be heard from for they have not given up the fight . They are alive and well in the US House…and by next year their ranks will increase in the US senate as well. And a new President?

  35. Pat Robertson July 22, 2011 16:54 pm

Oh boy, there go the Democrats again. Give us more time. Believe our word. We will stop our spending and do our cutting. UH-HU. Yeah. Sure. The tooth fairy will be here…uh…tomorrow.

The Democrats have NEVER stopped an aggregate increase in taxing. Nor in spending. They WON’T stop.

How many times do they ask for more time? How many times do they follow our wishes by their votes?

NO MORE. No more. No more. No more time. No ten years. Between now and August 2nd the Democrats can come forward. After that it all stops. We will survive. But the purse strings are being cut.

  36. Jamie Jacoby July 22, 2011 21:23 pm

I am not a religious person, but if I were I’d be praying to every god I could muster that the talks collapse, Obama claims 14th Amendment privileges and, without Congressional authority, orders Turbo Timmy to issue new debt.

I have stated time and again that the government will do our recruiting for us. This is absolutely my dream scenario.

Please Please Please Please Please. It’s too good to be true.

  37. LittleDavid July 23, 2011 08:18 am

    Pat Robertson and Jamie Jacoby,

If you think Republicans in the House are going to benefit in the court of public opinion by refusing to comment you are delusional. Poll after poll after poll show the overwhelming majority of all voters in favor of a compromise which includes revenue increases.

Here is a link to one such poll, by Gallup:

    http://www.gallup.com/poll/148562/Americans-Including-Republicans-Debt-Compromise.aspx

Note this poll shows that even a strong majority, 57%, of REPUBLICANS support compromise. I would provide links to additional polls reporting about the same thing, but I am limited to one link per comment.

  38. Mike Barrett July 23, 2011 08:58 am

I guess the right wing has concluded that a little default is good for the country once in a while. No matter that less than three years ago, the official policy of the republican party was that deficits don’t matter as they had rung up record deficits and increases in the debt. So having caused the great recession, and having voted for TARP and the bail out, suddenly, they get religion. Well actually, they created the crisis, and then ride the wave of outrage that they helped to create. Masterful. Witnessing the recovery, they now want to create another recession to ensure their full power in 2012. What a script. Of course, many more will be destitude, more businesses will fail, the nation will be forced to pay billions more in interest, the enforced extreme austerity in the US will cause recession world wide, and I am supposed to reward these zealots? Frankly, these extremists are not worthy of the office to which they have pledged their oath to serve.

  39. Jamie Jacoby July 23, 2011 10:16 am

    Government by polls = democracy.

Democracy = two wolves and one sheep voting on what to have for dinner.

    ===> Democracy = Where’s my free stuff?

Yet, any understanding of the simple math of economics, which is no longer taught in government schools (hmmm, I wonder why?) leads one to know that our current course is unsustainable.

===>>> Our current course is unsustainable + there is no political will to change it = we drive off the cliff. It’s actually quite simple. Isn’t that obvious?

This is why I am content in my belief that we have passed the event horizon for a collapse event, perhaps one of truly historic proportions. You can invoke the memes of social justice, or class warfare, or envy, or foreign bogeymen, or false hope (“recovery”), or the meme that just keeps on giving (Armageddon if you don’t do what we want), but none of that changes the facts. Folks who continue to argue for “borrowing forever” are in the Bargaining Phase of loss.

“Can’t we just get back to the party?”

It is a simple fact that wealth cannot be redistributed until it is first produced. Yet, no one on the left, and a tragic few on the right, are actually talking about what we really need to do: get the economy moving again by allowing it to produce wealth. Instead of honoring our wealth-producers, we shame and humiliate them, threaten them, and attack them. This is the end game of the social justice meme. Everyone stands around wondering why there is no more wealth to redistribute, why the productive economy has collapsed, who can we blame for it, and who can we borrow or steal from to keep the party going.

    It’s a truly disgusting spectacle.

  40. Pat Robertson July 23, 2011 20:38 pm

First of all, there are many good points that Jamie Jacoby makes in regards to the “talks” that are going on between Barak Husein Obama and members of congress. And then there is the “other” thing that he mentions.

Let me discuss the latter first. Jamie is not a believer in Christ. And evidently if he was “religious”, he would pray to many Gods. There is where Jamie and I would part in our discussions on many things. There is only one God and He has a son named Jesus. And of course, Jamie is entitled to his belief. It is not one that I share.

Are you listening David and Mike? Jamie puts it well…”Our current course is unsustainable and there is no political will to change it.”

Spending has to be brought under control. There will have to be a CUT, CAP and BALANCE worked out or we will “go over the cliff” as Jamie has said.

David, you can live by the polls and die by the polls, buddy Who cares about polls when you have to make the tough decisions. Who’s in charge? The pollsters or the men and women whom we elected to congress. Don’t tell me that they are governing by the polls? Why the heck do we have these representatives of the people there, when we can just cut back on them and then govern by the pollsters?

Spending…CUT spending. Balance…BALANCE the budget and live within our means. TAX…somewhere along the line the congress will TAX EVERYONE OUT OF EXISTENCE. The government cannot continue at this rate. Since we need to make sacrifices now, then indeed THIS IS THE BEST TIME…before we get to the point that there will be no sacrifice that we can make at all.

And MIKE quit being so dramatic or un knowledgable about default. We don’t have to pay the entire trillions of dollars we have in debt to not be in default, We only have to pay the interest which indeed we are capable of doing at this point in our budget life. Do you not know this? And if you do, then why are you hollering, DEFAULT?

We need to do what Minnesota did. Minnesota legislators stopped the talks with their chief executive and their government did not come to a halt. They did stop selling beer…LOL…and that brought the governor back to the table. (tongue in cheek…indeed there were other reasons)

I say STOP the talks and lets get the irrefutable Obama to sit down and talk about putting on paper and into law his cuts in spending and committed to a law of balancing the budget…and then we can talk about raising some taxes, if necessary. And no TEN year plan with PROMISES…that eventually mean nothing. After all, his spending of trillions of dollars to “stimulate” has gone nowhere except to put us deeper in debt. And spending more trillions will make it even
    worse ( Duh? )

Jamie Jacoby is right on the mark when he says, ” You can invoke the (insane reasoning–my words) of ‘social justice’, class warfare, or envy or foreign boogymen or false hope (recovery) or the (canard–my word) that just keeps on giving (Armageddon if you don’t do what we want) but none of that changes the facts. FOLKS WHO CONTINUE TO AGRUE FOR “BORROWING FOREVER” are in the “Borrowing Phase” of loss.”

Well spoken Jamie Jacoby. Speak more.

What a smart guy for one who has not accepted Christ. Now you socialist Christians who think that spending and borrowing can go on for ever…you need to listen to this guy on this point.

“Can’t we just get back to the party?” is great parody, great ridicule by Jacoby. Why worry about consequences? LET’S KEEP PARTYING!!! Let’s just keep having a good time and not worry about our spending and taxing while we go over a cliff.

Hopefully, the conservative portion of the Republicans can withstand the pressure and stick to the CUT, CAP and BALANCE. What guts, what drama, what strength!!! Can those Tea Partier’s help keep them on the right path?

SHAZAM. John Boehner and other House conservatives walked out on the dictatorial Barak Hussein Obama. Dang, the excitement of it all, the great struggle, the courage of this little band of men and women…what’s next? Flying into the face of a hurricane? Those men and women may not be THE GREAT LEADER of the nation…but they can certainly lead better than the one in the white house. WOW. THEY STOOD FIRM AGAIN!!! SHAZAM.

Obama says it’s his way or the highway. How dumb can you get? The branch of government that has control of the purse strings is the legislative branch and in this case the US House. The executive branch does not have that power…and Obama is going to try and push his way upon them? Where’s that great comprising power of his?

Why doesn’t he put something down on paper and let everybody see his plan and then allow them to see just how just and fair he is going to be. He can’t run the government solo. And if he wants to shut things down the conservatives are going to let him do just that.

Will he try and usurp the separation of powers in our constitution and take over as dictator and rule by fiat? I think that he would like to do that. Obama is showing himself to be a petulant negotiator and if he doesn’t get his way…he get’s mad and throws a fit.

He once said that elections have consequences. And the American people just nine months back sent a message to him then by electing a more conservative house. They sent this message…STOP THE SPENDING AND TAXING AND THE RUINING OF THIS COUNTRY.

Did Obama get the message. Evidently not. Is the US House going to stick to their guns? They have nine more days to go starting this Monday. Pray they have the strength for the fight and to stand firm. They did so today.

Oh, by the way. I forgot to mention ERIC CANTOR’S name. Way to go, Eric and all of the others that were fighting it out in the White House.

On Monday…we are down to single digits…NINE MORE DAYS TO GO.
    Keep it up!!!

Wisconsin, Minnesota, New Jersey, Michigan, Virginia legislature’s and many other states…thanks for your firm resolve and service to our country. Thanks for taking your states away from the brink. Now if we can just keep on going and get them all back on good financial footing.

Whoo-hooo, boys. Bar the door, Katy!! It’s almost six in the evening on an approaching Sunday night and the sun is setting on the Democrats and their tyrannical leader, Barak Hussein Obama.

The Democrats want NO, I reapeat, NO…CUT, CAP AND BALANCE deal!!! They want their way on no way.

The US House is standing firm. NO MORE RAISING THE DEBT without real CUTS, CAPS AND BALANCES. Hot dog, we have leaders and strong men in the US House of Representatives.

Come on Asian markets…open them doors. We fear it not. The USA is going to show the world that they are standing firm in turning their economic insanity around. Trillions…a word used in science and for science…and not for a nations debt.

Another threat…the Asian market…by the Democrats. Adios, Democrat threat
    WHOO-HOOOOO!!! YIPEE!!!!

  45. Pat Robertson July 24, 2011 19:21 pm

I’m sure more Democrat threats are on the way. Doom, despair, death, default (You can’t default on the debt if you pay the interest on the debt). So what?…says the Democrats…most folks don’t know that and we want to scare them a little. No, no, cancel that….WE WANT TO SCARE THEM A LOT.

MORE DEBT, MORE SPENDING, MORE BORROWING…thats our way say the Democrats. Get used to it because we are going to buy peoples freedom with it. What do the people want with freedom. We can tell them what to do…says Obama…says the Democrats.

DON’T FEAR THE THREATS!! Who was it that said, “You have nothing to fear but fear itself?” Oh, yeah, that was one of our earlier socialist Presidents, wasn’t it. Franklin D. Roosevelt…himself…how ironic.

Hang tough America…You have nothing to fear but fear itself. GO…GO…GO USA! Whistle, whistle and whistle.

  46. Pat Robertson July 25, 2011 00:06 am

    Whoa, Nelly,

It is now MONDAY, the 25th of July. It’s official…NINE more days. The Asian market is open.

Boehner is going to meet with the GOP conference at mid afternoon, today. Even before that time the Asian market will have closed. The voters have given the GOP the upper hand in these negotiations by giving them the control of the US House.

OK, Obama and Democrats, it’s your turn to give a little or do you want to shut down the nation by your stubbornness in bargaining with a weaker hand? Give the nation a little break, from your endless spending. Come on now, it’s not that hard. Let go of the nation’s pocketbook…pare down on the spending…and do a good turn for the USA.

  47. Pat Robertson July 25, 2011 14:14 pm

BOY OH BOY. It’s past noon…so that means we now have only EIGHT and 1/2days before shut down of the government by Obama and the “good old Democrat boys” in the congress. Bring it on. We are going to cut that SPENDING…Period.

And have you seen the B.S. word “tranches” that politico and other news media are using? By that I mean why doesn’t the media just say that Obama wants to pass a “deal” in one “part”. That’s what the word means…”a portion”. Why not just say one “part” instead of one tranche? Where’s that clearness? Where’s that transparency? Not everybody relates immediately to the word “tranches”. Small point? Maybe. But why not just be clearer?

Obama wants a “deal” in ONE PART. He wants to “bury” CUT, CAP AND BALANCE until after the upcoming election. His election is more important to him than the economic well being of the nation. The house will stand firm and do this in a two part effort. Keep Obama and the Democrats feet close to the fire.

EIGHT AND ONE HALF more days. Yeah.

  48. Pat Robertson July 25, 2011 14:26 pm

By the way since we are talking about US Representative Wolf and the “gang of six” and Budgets. Let’s consider another Republican Representative from Virginia…US Representative Eric Cantor.

You would never believe that both men came from the same party by watching their actions. One wants to join a “gang” that wants to work outside the party (and help the Democrats) to continue destroying the budget and the other is working with the full membership within the Party to force lowering the spending.

The conservatives, Tea Party, Independents, and Republicans need to take a closer look at this “Republican” Frank Wolfe and find someone who is going to work together with other conservatives and then make real changes.

Who knows? Maybe that will happen this year.
