Paul Hirschbiel? A Bush-Romney-McDonnell supporter?
By Brian Kirwin | Wednesday, July 13th, 2011 |Democrats have given up. They’ve quit. They’ve stopped looking for Democrats run in elections…at least in Virginia.
After running Phil Kellam, Glenn Nye and other assorted lefties, they’ve thrown in the towel. The best hope they have in the Second Congressional district is a donor to George W. Bush, Mitt Romney and Governor Bob McDonnell.
Whispers are growing into loud whispers that Paul Hirschbiel is going to run against Representative Scott Rigell in the Second Congressional District. If that happens, Democrats might as well fold the tent and leave town.
If Democrats are willing to run Hirschbiel, who supported George W. Bush, Mitt Romney and Bob McDonnell, I’d love to see how they rationalize it.
It goes deeper. Hirschbiel has supported a slew of Republicans in addition to this. Wonder if he truly makes his announcement if he’ll explain to all those Democrat activists how he’s helped Republicans so often over the years…

What’s your point? VPAP shows Paul O Hirschbiel, of $272,013 donated, 63% went to Democrats and 13% went to Republicans. Strange you want to raise that sleeping dog with a Republican incumbent who generously donated to Democratic campaigns. Politics is politics, and business is business. This kind of negativity can result in backlash. More importantly, I suggest you view HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 901 Offered February 12, 2009.
what is that picture of?
I think its a picture of Paul Hirschbiel on the left, is it a costume party or something?
Paul Hirschbiel has and gives lots of money and his name is very high profile, eliminating the problem of having to “sell” him to the public. However, to my knowledge, he has no political qualifications. The Democrats are grabbing at anything. They know Scott Rigell has been the best Congressman we have had in a long while and that he is going to be a hard person to defeat.
This type of editorial generates the problems with politics today. Slandering him because he supported (with what really is a small amount of money) some Republican ideas is ridiculous. They guy is a serious businessman and does an enormous amount for the community particularly with the arts and education. You don’t become a successful and respected businessman withought being able to get the right people around a table to work out a deal. This is what he could bring to Congress…something that seems to be missing today. At a minimum he deserves a chance to announce his candidacy and his position before receiving scrutiny.
a) I can’t even imagine the fun that the RNC will have with this goofy picture of Hirschbiel in a dance leotard
b) This guy seems like a political chameleon; donates thousands of dollars to Bush, McDonnell, Romney, and then donates thousands to Obama and other Democrats?
c) He’s running as a “businessman” for office? Isn’t that what we already have for Scott Rigell?
Last Gallup polls now has Obama losing against a generic Republican by EIGHT points. Not exactly a year I would want to run in a Republican-leaning district
Never did meet a Morehead scholar that I liked. Went to the same communist college. However do not underestimate the potential.
Rigell donated to Obama and several “conservative” commentators on this blog defended him for it. What a hypocritical post…
This is a business executive and major contributor to solving social problems in Hampton Roads through voluntary community agencies. He is thoughtful, energetic, and rational, and has shown by his own actions that he is willing and able to take on tough assignments and solve problems. For one thing, while he understands working together to solve problems, I cannot fathom him being simply a shadow to the Speaker of the House, a person who simply follows the party line over the cliff. Paul Hirschbiel has the community connections and support from citizens all over the political spectrum that will make his candidacy viable and his tenure in Congress one of which we can all be proud.
hey…who nice lady?? we vote for her!!!
[...] We’re looking forward to hearing Hirschbiel speak glowingly of all the Democrats he’s supported over the years. [...]
