VIRGINIA GOP POLL: If the 2012 Senate Primary Elections Were Held Today…
By | Tuesday, June 14th, 2011 | Politics

Tea Party numbers are down nationwide, anxietyover the federal budget has ebbed slightly since the debt ceiling vote (but not eroded), and candidates are crisscrossing Virginia to make the case for the GOP nod during the dog days of summer.

In other words… it’s time for another Virginia Senate GOP nomination poll from Bearing Drift!  Polls will be open until 9:00pm on Thursday, 16 June!

Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.

The last professional polling showed George Allen in a comfortable lead, with the nearest challenger being that of Delegate Bob Marshall.  Most polls show Allen with a slight lead over presumptive Democratic nominee and former DNC Chairman Tim Kaine.

…as for the graphic, I have no attribution (and yes, you can see that where I got it from, the artist was edited out).

Still, if someone can point me to an original, I’ll gladly swap it out!

  2. Shaun Kenney June 14, 2011 13:18 pm

…and someone did. Not that The People’s Cube would have minded me sharing their capitalist-condemning propaganda for glorious people’s enlightenment or what-have-you.

  3. Chris Frashure June 14, 2011 13:24 pm

Why is Bob Marshall on here, and where is the “They all suck” option?

  4. Steve Vaughan June 14, 2011 14:42 pm

This is Allen in a walk. There’s enough disatisfaction with his 2006 campaign that there could have been a realistic challenge to him if someone voters had heard of, even Bob Marshall, had run against him head-to-head but with four “some dudes” and one “some chick” all trying to challenge him from the right, they just steal each other’s oxygen.

  5. Britt Howard June 14, 2011 14:53 pm

    For skewing the results, Chris?

  6. Eric McGrane June 14, 2011 23:57 pm

For the criteria to be “If the elections were held today”, shouldn’t you only include candidates that are ACTUALLY running?

  7. Adelaide Perry Farah June 15, 2011 09:40 am

I am delighted to support Timothy Donner’s candidacy.

Where is the undecided option? I want to choose a Republican (not in name only) who can beat Tim Kaine. We need senators who will listen to the will of the people and not pretend to be center of the road (Webb and Warner).

Finally someone I can vote for is standing up. I have voted against candidates so much I have a hard time expressing my Patriotic Duty to vote for Jaime Radtke. It’s like something new to do at the polls on election day. Let’s not be foolish on this thing. Jaime Radtke is our best choice for U.S. Senate in my lifetime. I pray she will be the one to take the Oath Of Office before God because she will stand by it.

  11. Norman Leahy June 15, 2011 15:22 pm

Regrettably, there is no option for that greatest of Virginia statesmen, George Mason. He’s got my vote…unless that other Virginia titan, Jim Bacon, gets into the race.

  12. Ken Kelly June 15, 2011 16:47 pm

I am really sorry but as far as I can see, Timothy Donner is the only real conservative candidate among the top three. George Allen is a professional “progressive” politician loser, a retread trying to get back in the game. Jamie Radtke isn’t anything but an Allen surrogate prodigy; a vote for her is pretty much like a vote for Allen.

  13. alan kelly June 15, 2011 18:19 pm

Tim Donner is an honest man with integrity. We need that in Washington…finally someone who is not a “professional” politician. Mr. Donner is the real deal.

  14. Billy Jack June 15, 2011 18:40 pm

Wow. This poll has almost as much relevence as the poll I took at the Paper Moon last night. (google “paper moon richmond” if you don’t know what I’m talking about).

  15. Concerned voter June 15, 2011 20:59 pm

Problem number one is that two of these candidates are not running for candidacy, so why are people voting for them? So, this poll is not real accurate.

  16. amateur pundit June 16, 2011 08:17 am

Jamie Radtke = Christine O’Donnell = Sharon Angle

  17. Britt Howard June 16, 2011 15:55 pm

Amateur Pundit, you take a Tea Party and gender commonality and make that the whole of it. Jamie Radtke is not the same woman . Just your way of saying all Tea Party women are alike? Maybe the Democrats are right. Maybe there is a “war on women”.

  18. BR June 16, 2011 20:22 pm

You know what’s great about this poll? All 12 of Jamie Radtke’s supporters are spending all their time jumping from computer to computer to win this cyber activist poll while George Allen’s statewide supporters are actually working to take back the State Senate. Funny.

  19. Nigel Coleman June 16, 2011 21:17 pm

    Yet another Team Radtke Win!

  20. Eric McGrane June 16, 2011 21:17 pm

Ohhh I get it….if Allen wins, its totally genuine and he’s super awesome. Jamie wins and its underhanded and skewed.

    LOL I love politics.

  21. Britt Howard June 16, 2011 21:35 pm

I would have felt more comfortable with say….153 more votes.

This wasn’t a scientific poll, and it does reflect more on activists supporting the campaign. So, we Radtke supporters should be mindful of that. Still, this was a victory. Even if you only consider it to be activists added since the last poll taken at the Allen friendly Bearing Drift.

If you support Radtke, you should see this as a definite positive sign. However, there is a LOT more work to do and a long way to the primary. Let’s work even harder.

  22. Nicholas Moskowitz June 16, 2011 21:58 pm

Jaime Radtke, the next senator from Virginia!

  23. Karen M. Hurd June 16, 2011 21:59 pm

And let’s add up the total “not George Allen” votes 508.

  24. Igor June 16, 2011 22:03 pm

Now watch for Bearing Drift come up with all kinds of excuses!!!!

  25. Michael June 16, 2011 22:18 pm

What “excuses” do you think we need Igor?

Jamie and her supporters worked very hard the last two days to get their supporters here to vote. That’s pretty much it.

We do, however, appreciate the traffic. :-)

  26. Indiana June 16, 2011 23:06 pm

I think it is funny how the Radtke supporters are celebrating this as a victory. I hope after the primary they can have as much energy rallying against Tim Kaine/Obama even if their candidate finishes second.

  27. Britt Howard June 16, 2011 23:09 pm

Yes, all the George Allen butt kissing coming from BD makes me sick. However, I still enjoy the site. Just because I think JR is making a big mistake on one race doesn’t change my over all view. You guys can have my traffic. :)

We can at least agree that we want the best for Virginia and America. We just disagree with a senate race.

  28. Britt Howard June 16, 2011 23:13 pm

We will, Indiana. And don’t worry. Jamie will beat Tim Kaine. :)

  29. Spank That Donkey June 16, 2011 23:58 pm

You know JR, George Allen was rumored to have had of all things a Confederate Flag in his home! He was a sympathizer with Confederate History here in our Great Commonwealth. Just the sort of thing you would like to stamp out; as it doesn’t fit your politically correct agenda of history.

  30. J.R. Hoeft June 17, 2011 05:55 am

How did I get dragged into this? And how are we “Allen friendly” – because we interview the guy and post an occasional article about him?

STD – welcome back! And, you still don’t get it.

  31. Mark Collins June 17, 2011 08:35 am

It’s not like this is the final vote or anything. It’s a poll and it’s a poll specifically of people who WANTED to vote in a POLL. Most polls are taken of people who didn’t ask anyone to yank their opinion from them and thus have given the matter little to any thought.

My fear, and the reality is, that most people that walk into the voting booth have given their vote little to any thought. Even in a Primary though not as bad as a general election.

Small victories like this however are important for fundraising, for electioneering, and for perception. If people don’t believe you have a serious chance, then you have no chance. This is a victory for the Radke campaign because continued polling showing no serious contenders for Allen is disastrous for everyone!

It doesn’t mean she’ll win but it’s as much a victory as any poll can be!

I think bearing drift needs to change the logo to say..leading “Republican” voice in Virginia…not “conservative”….right now there is a HUGE difference!
