Allen Snubs Frederick, but with cause
By | Friday, June 10th, 2011 | Politics, Virginia

In the GOP contest to pick a challenger to Democratic Sen. Toddy Puller, U.S. senatorial hopeful George Allen has picked…Tito “the Builder” over former Delegate and RPV chairman Jeff Frederick:

Muñoz, who formed a political action committee in April, made a name for himself when he appeared onstage with Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin during the 2008 presidential campaign. He has become a conservative Latino voice on the radio.

Allen, a former governor and senator, is the frontrunner for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate in 2012. A Washington Post poll last month shows he remains popular even as some of his GOP opponents paint him as not conservative enough.

Last week, Jeff Frederick, ousted leader of the Republican Party of Virginia and a former Prince William County delegate, filed paperwork to run for Puller’s seat.

This is sure to set some tongues a-waggin’ in GOP circles.

And make no mistake about it: the establishment disdain for Frederick hasn’t ebbed a bit. That may play some small role in Allen’s endorsement, but his action should not come as a surprise. Frederick called Allen a “poster child for the establishment” whom he would not support in the statewide primary. One cannot expect Allen to have ignored such remarks.

Now to see if any of Allen’s challengers decide to make endorsements of their own…in this or any other Republican primary contest.

I love Tito’s favorite phrase, “I was born in Colombia, but I was made in the USA.” Tito loves America. He wants to serve and for him, it’s not about entitlement, it’s about serving and giving back. How many who were born here have forgotten that principle?

Knock Frederick all you want rinos but this bout sums it up..

“I have some thoughts on who I like, but I’m not ready to discuss that publically just yet. What I can say is that I will not support George Allen. He was complicit in all the big government conservatism that came out of the Congress during his years in the Senate, cheerleading for it all and never leading against it. Allen was a go-along member of the GOP majority that lost power because it lost its principles, and he really is the opposite of the ideal candidate for those of us looking for a constitutional, first-principles, non-GOP-status-quo type of candidate. George Allen is the poster child for the establishment.”

Turbo, I can’t take any comment you make seriously after you referred to people like Tito as “brown people” in one of your rants a few weeks back.

Dan were you trying to flatter me? (blushing)

Sorry, Turbo — Frederick’s tenure at RPV followed by remarks that could, at best, be described as intemperate, simply disqualify him from any serious consideration for public office or position of authority.

Tito Munoz is capable, brings new ideas and fresh faces into the party, and stands with us on every single issue of import. I will support Tito 100%.

Allen could have supported him behind the scenes. Surely he would know a good portion of the party will now be suspicious of Mr. Munoz. Frederick has his strong points, but also weakness as Shaun illustrates, that Munoz could have benefitted from more had Allen left well enough alone. Potential Frederick supporters will probably be less willing to hear the “damaged goods” arguement and more willing to circle the wagons.

Endorsing so early is unseemly to me and unnecessarily polarizes the field. It was asked if others would jump in the endorsement game. At least this early, that would be a big mistake.

George..come on people…are any of you serious? Look at his history….NOW he’s going to change? Puhleese..He is just another part of the problem..He had his turn….AND he spent too much money and made some bad decisions..both politically and personaly…Please do not risk our country’s future by choosing to vote for Allen!
