Peace Frogs creator Catesby Jones to run for Virginia House of Delegates
By | Friday, June 3rd, 2011 | Politics, Virginia

Catesby Jones, 46, president of Peace Frogs, Inc., has announced that he will be a candidate for the Republican nomination to run for the Virginia House of Delegates 98th District seat held by retiring Harvey Morgan since 1980.

He joins three other Republican candidates, Sherwood Bowditch, Ken Gibson, and Keith Hodges, who are also running for the nomination.

Jones, who founded the multimillion dollar international Peace Frogs company in 1985 while a student at the Univeristy of Virginia, ran for the First Congressional District congressional seat in 2007 after the death of Congresswoman Jo Anne Davis in a crowded field that saw Rob Wittman win that seat.

Peace Frogs is headquartered in Gloucester where Jones’ father served as Commonwealth’s Attorney for 16 years and his grandfather was a judge for 25 years.

Jones graduated from UVa in 1987 with a B.S. in International Relations and a minor in Economics and History.

Nice guy, but I think there are some other candidates running who are a bit more qualified. If I recall, he did not last very long in that Congressional race.

This is great news, and one might reasonably think that Rob Wittman and Harvey Morgan as well as Albert Pollard and Tayloe Murphy are helping to lay the foundation for the campaign. They’d deserve congratulations from all Virginians for attempting to prevent the arrival of a Crabill clone in the House.

It is great to have someone running who has made a payroll and provided private sector jobs. Jones will make an excellent Delegate. He is not some fly-by-night candidate who moves to Gloucester to run for office, but is someone who has invested his time and money in the citizens of the County.

BTW, Wittman had the 2007 primary wrapped up anyway.

He doesn’t even live in Gloucester. He lives in Williamsburg (Kingsmill) which isn’t even in the district.

@Jane: Wrong. Jones has lived in Gloucester for his entire life except when he was in school at Wooodberry Forest and UVA and when he was building Peacefrogs in DC in the late 1980′s and mid 1990′s. There is a Dailypress article about it – all you have to do is read it. As for the Kingsmill house, some people are successful enough to have more than one house. Having a second house doesn’t disqualify him from running in the district as long as his residence is in the district.

Jones has a vested interest in Gloucester and his family has been part of the leadership of the County since the late 1700′s. Combined with a very successful business that has employed countless employees from our county, he seems like the best candidate to me.

His ancestor was even the secretary of the Commonwealth of Virginia in 1717 !!!!
