UPDATE: Huckabee to Announce Intentions Saturday Night; In Or Out?
By Ken Falkenstein | Friday, May 13th, 2011 | PoliticsMike Huckab
ee will announce on his Fox News show Saturday night whether he’ll be running for President. The good news is that he is expected to announce that he’s not running.
That leaves only three viable candidates for the GOP nomination: Mitch Daniels, Mitt Romney, and Tim Pawlenty.
Paging Governors Christie and McDonnell….
UPDATE: From Mark Halperin at Time.com:
Huckabee email to his inner circle:
Tomorrow night (Saturday) I will announce the next step in my plans for 2012 during my show on the Fox News Channel. I would like to be able to call you or email you personally and in advance of the announcement, but due to the fact that the decision was not finalized until today and that I committed to Fox that I will absolutely not release it prior to doing so on the channel, that became impractical.
A lot of information and speculation was already rampant in the press today, and it frankly isn’t fair to you to tell you the details and then put you in the awkward position of saying you didn’t know (which at that point wouldn’t be true) or saying you did know, but couldn’t reveal or discuss it.
It was this afternoon before I could even get word to all of my own children and even now, the executive producer of my show and the staff and crew of the show don’t know and won’t until I actually do the final preparation literally minutes before I share the decision live Saturday night.
I will look forward to speaking with you soon and once I fulfill my sworn obligation to Fox, I will be free to discuss things that I can’t now due to promises to them and to some possible legal considerations of the announcement.
Many friends have said, “how can we help you in the decision?” My answer has consistently been, “Pray that I have clarity.” I have it and will share it Saturday night during the show. Please be patient if I don’t respond immediately to an email because I expect that once I pull the trigger Saturday night, things will get even crazier, as if that’s possible.
My heartfelt thanks for your friendship, prayers, and support,
Mike Huckabee

I think he is going for it.
1.) He leads in most polls
2.) He leads in favorability
3.) He has secured financial independence (BTW – running and loosing would in no way take that from him. It would actually likely increase his marketability – he knows that if I know that)
4.) He has put in place a shadow campaign
5.) He has been actively working the early primary states
6) His main competition (Romney) has been severely hit this week over his stance on Romneycare.
My opinion: He’d be crazy if he didn’t run.
I suspect that Huckabee won’t run either. I read recently where he let his entire SC staff go.
Trump… Has a better chance the paltney
Correction: Two viable candidates Daniels (who hasn’t announced yet and seem to be leaning against) and Pawlenty. Romney wasn’t going to win before the health care speech, but that put the nail in it for him.
I’m with Huckabee if he’s in.
If he isn’t, where do we moral values voters go?
Henry Ryto- Go to Rick Santorum. The Libs made sure that he is marginilized, as well as the Republicans that want nothing to do with the social conservatives.
Bob McDonnell and Chris Christie, in that order, are the only ones who have a chance of beating Obama in 2012. The rest would be spending money in the wind for nothing.
You have to be joking… McD couldn’t win in any of the northern states.
I don’t think he’ll run either. Believe it or not, at this point I’m leaning toward Newt. Why? What this race needs is a good lightening rod. Right now it is a giant snooze fest.
He’s be crazy to run! He’s got it made at present; building a dreamhouse in Florida, gigs at FOX, speaking engagements which, I’m sure pay him, handsomely, playing his guitarr, etc. etc.
Why on earth would he want to run for president?
He is not running. If you notice he has started to gain back some of the weight that he lost before his 2008 run.
The Huckster is in
Now we hear the Huckster sent an email indicating that he may run. He said that after his announcement tonight, “things are going to get a lot crazier.” He is up to something, and I’m wondering if he will run as an Independent. That surely would make things more crazy, as he has been leading in the GOP polls, even though it is most likely because of name recognition at this time. As an Independent, he won’t be competing for the R nomination. His name would be on the ballot in the General which would kill any Republican chance against Obama. A few more hours and we will know. If he is in, does he walk off the FOX set tonight for good?
Huckabee-McDonnell.. Git R Dun
Huckabee is out. Trumps response was so far beyond disgusting it defies sleazy. I was not a Huckabee supporter, but I am mystified that they had Trump on the last few seconds. Trump is a piece of crap, and then some.
