Schapiro: McDonnell Cut My Paycheck!
By | Tuesday, May 10th, 2011 | Policy

Let us all kneel and weep for public radio in the wake of McDonnell’s veto of $424,000 of spending…

McDonnell’s base was thrilled by the veto. (Disclosure: I’m paid by Richmond’s public radio and television stations to provide political analysis.)

…and there we have it.

Thus does the RTD’s Jeff Schapiro weep for the loss of public radio funding and the irreparable harm McDonnell has done to public discourse… this doppelganger posing as a leader yet catering to his conservative base!

Don’t worry.  Schapiro finds his inner conservative and bewails the $4.6 million given to Steve Spielberg, that “symbol of the deep-pocketed, film-colony strain of Democratic liberalism that some conservatives say permeates public broadcasting” all Republicans love to hate and hate to love.

I guess when it boils down to it, socialism really is cool… until it stops working for you and starts working for someone else, eh?

Give Schapiro this though — he is a hell of a lot more forthcoming about his opinions (and the reasons for them) than some of the punditry class in Virginia, mainstream media and blogging community alike.
