Radtke swings at Allen on “Hallowed Ground”; releases endorsements
By JR Hoeft | Thursday, April 28th, 2011 | PoliticsUS Senate Republican nomination candidate Jamie Radtke took a swing at former Governor and US Senator George Allen’s support over “Hallowed Ground” legislation yesterday.
Radtke said in her release that prominent conservative organizations and media such as Human Events, the Heritage Foundation, and Virginia Land Rights Coalition opposed Allen’s plan.
She also portrayed the plan as a “land grab” and supported by those “hostile to property rights.”
Ostensibly, this means that it was a stupid idea, right? That means the following are stupid:
Hallowed Ground has been supported by numerous communities across Virginia, and Secretary of Transportation Sean Connaughton and First Lady Maureen McDonnell.
Radtke also released her list of supporters and did a good job listing how many former Republican party members supported her.
“I am honored and humbled by the support I’ve received from Tea Party leaders from across Virginia, as well as leaders in the Republican Party and the Conservative movement,” Radtke said. “These are real Virginians and Americans fighting every day for the principles of constitutionally limited government, fiscal responsibility, free markets, and virtue and accountability.
“Many establishment candidates these days are scrambling to revise their histories and trying to get in front of the Tea Party movement,” Radtke said. “While we welcome their late-breaking conversion to the faith, we also are stuck having to reverse the effects of their deeds while in office. That is why we need a new generation of courageous, conservative leaders in Washington.”
Here’s the list of endorsements:
Endorsements from Republican,
Community & Opinion Leaders
(Individual Endorsements; Titles / Organizations for Descriptive Purposes Only)“I have met George Allen a number of times, like him tremendously, but I have personally decided to support Jamie Radtke for the Senate. Once someone has been beaten, I tend to think we need not run them again for the same seat. Republicans have a habit of doing that and, at this time, I think we need some fresh faces.”
Erick Erickson — RedState.com“I enthusiastically support Jamie for the U.S. Senate. She is the only extraordinary candidate running. We need new Republican representation in Congress that is willing to stand up to both Democrats and Republicans who do not recognize the fiscal dangers threatening our Republic. Jamie is that candidate.”
Joe Blackburn – Former Chairman Henrico County Republican Committee“Our beloved America is in crisis. That’s why I’m supporting Jamie Radtke, a constitutionalist, family-values conservative who understands that our Republican Party must stand foursquare for liberty, not mere political power. Jamie’s clear conservative record proves her understanding that our leaders must be judged by principled deeds, not poll-tested slogans. Jamie is the true ‘Jeffersonian conservative’ in this race.”
Rick Boyer, Chairman, 22nd House District committee, former chairman, Campbell County GOP, former GOP Campbell County supervisor“I have known Jamie since I attended a VCAP training in Richmond almost ten years ago. She has been a consistent, effective, principled advocate for conservative, pro-life, pro-family causes. What a relief to find a candidate in whom I have full confidence!”
Marnie Deaton — Former Director of Central Virginia Family Forum“Jamie Radtke is fearless about confronting the enormous problems that face America and our economy, and she is serious about making government follow the law that was written to govern it, our Constitution. She is a force for the people, and is exactly the right person Virginia needs in the U.S. Senate.”

Mark Lloyd — Chairman, Virginia Tea Party Patriots Federation“Jamie Radtke is a principled conservative who understands both policy and how to work with people to achieve a shared goal. That’s not easy in the highly independent grassroots tea party movement! Jamie has always stood firm on principle, no matter how much pressure was on her to do something else. We need her kind of leadership and fresh ideas in Washington DC.”
Karen Miner Hurd – Founder. Hampton Roads Tea Party“Thinking that we should expect better results by re-electing establishment politicians is not a strategy for success. To bring actual positive change in Washington, we need new ideas and fresh faces. Jamie Radtke’s vision of common-sense governance based on conservative principles is desperately needed in a government that continues to fail its people.”
Eric McGrane — President, Richmond Tea Party“I was a George Allen supporter; when he got to Washington he seemed to have forgotten his conservative roots. His votes as a Senator speak volumes about the lack of conviction to conservative principles. He backed George Bush by voting for one of the biggest increases in Federal spending. He also supported No Child Left Behind, a costly program to create a national education report card; favored a federal program to subsidize the costs of prescription drugs for Medicare beneficiaries; and voted to expand the Hate Crimes Prevention Act to include crimes based on sexual orientation. To me these look like votes for bigger government.
“The stakes are higher now and I can’t afford to sit on the sidelines, say nothing and do nothing. So I have a commitment to support Jamie Radtke as our next U.S. Senator.”
Yale Schiffman – Organizer, Prince William Tea Party“Jamie is the personification of the non-government official running for political office. Her message is constitutional and consistent. She is one of the toughest political characters out there…A really good word to describe to Jamie Radtke as an opponent is ‘formidable.’”

Ha, an endorsement from Erick Erickson of Redstate has a shelf life. He said what he did about Radtke with no knowledge of her at all whatsoever. Look back at his endorsements. He lost far more than he won. He changes his tune as soon as a candidate can’t get support in polling, and then he drops those candidates like a hot potato. So much for trying desperately to be a kingmaker.
Wow, J.R., don’t you mean people that were “former” electeds or party officers? Sure, some on the list may no longer be Republicans. Not sure what they are, if they are not. Just because they are no longer on the scene as they once were, that doesn’t mean they are no longer Republican.
Are you privy to whether or not they denounced the party and went independent?
So, once again, Radtke has to hit her opponent rather than coming out with any positive messages about what she is all about. It seems that Radtke’s message only depends on what Allen did or said. Does she have the first original message that doesn’t include an attack on Allen? So far she seems to be running a defensive campaign, and the message is no where to be seen other than what Allen did. Vapid comes to mind.
J.R., YOU used the word “stupid”. Jamie Radtke is just saying it was wrong (not stupid), as have others. You sir, are simply putting insults into Jamie Radtke’s mouth. You wish to manufacture Jamie calling those people and organizations stupid. Not fair, J.R.
Wow. This re Hallowed Ground and property rights from someone who supported and worked for an anti-property rights candidate in Chesterfield in 2007, and in doing so, opposed a pro-business, conservative Republican nominee. Pot. Kettle. Black.
Personally, I see a lot of friends on that list. Surprised that Jamie didn’t list any of the unit committee chairs…
Shaun, Jamie is a well organized, vibrant and dynamic conservative.. the likes of which many people with differing views all agree is the conservative choice. It is not clear to me how you would not wish to be on that list which in reality has grown much larger than shown in just the past few weeks.
We have too much at stake to entrust Allen, an old school retread, and the establishment who keeps on displaying why they are not worthy of our trust in them to support candidates who represent We The People.
I challenge you Shaun to reconsider your position on Jamie. I have a lot of respect for your opinions and generally agree with what you posted in the past but for now I am confounded by your apparent open disdain for the most viable clear conservative in this race who is Jamie. Its time for clarity brother.
“When one reads this list, however, one does have to wonder whether Radtke is running for the Republican nomination or those that were formerly Republican.”
That is not what I wondered when I read this list of endorsements… What I wondered was why these conservatives and Republican leaders are not supporting George Allen if he really is “Tea Party before there was a Tea Party.”
We do not need another 6 six years of George Allen. His brash and foolish behaviour led us to lose the Senate seat in 2006 and from the looks of it he’s up to his old ways. Please watch this video where Allen makes an offensive off the cuff comment.
Sorry folks, but George is old news…..last year..etc etc…Jaime will actually VOTE the way conservatives want..so she has my support!
