Just for Kicks, A Visual Comparison of Allen’s $$$$$ vs. Radtke $
By | Tuesday, April 12th, 2011 | Politics

Just to put this in perspective, Allen raised $1,500,000 dollars against Radtke’s $50,000.

Visually, if you were to stack the two piles of money against one another, Allen raised $1,500,000… and Radtke raised (scroll down):

Radtke raised this.

Amateurs talk tactics; professionals talk logistics.  If Radtke is to have even a shot at becoming competitive, she is going to have to radically restructure her approach thus far.  This is a sideshow, not a campaign.

    Hysterical, Shaun.

Just for kicks, I would like to encourage everyone to follow the link that Shaun either didn’t read or chooses to ignore.

He ignored the $100 k she raised last quarter.

He ignored how much George Allen raised at this point for the last election, which….he lost.

He ignored how much Jim Webb raised at this point vs. Radtke.

He ignored the who the winner was during that last election and fund raising comparison – Jim Webb won………..just sayin’

He ignored that George Allen who had more money then than now *cough* lost!

Yes, just for kicks……follow his link and read what he failed to print here.
As was mentioned, she was focused on other components to the campaign this last period. She and the campaign are very aware that fund raising is essential.

Webb was a major party nominee. And comported himself accordingly.

  3. John Jackson April 12, 2011 15:04 pm

Yeah, Obama got $1.5M at one dinner. You don’t think Kaine isn’t going to get some of that kick back. It’s all funneled money and of course there’s some kick back coming back to the major party nominee.

I guess we’re going to see if the Presidency can be bought in 2012 with $1B. Bloomberg purchased being the mayor of New York, so why not the Republican Senate nomination. What’s the price for that?

And I hate to say it but Kaine’s going to be riding the coat tails of Obama.

While you guys are whipping it out with the measuring sticks…the night is still young.

Shaun, you are comparing candidates and funds. Besides, when Radtke defeats George Allen and gives conservatives a real chance to get real work done, she will be a major party nominee, too.

  5. Jason Kenney April 12, 2011 16:42 pm

As a major party nominee, Webb was able to get the big dollars needed to be a viable candidate and win despite being outspent two to one. Not only that, being a major party candidate helped garner attention that being the only person with a big R or D next to your name can get.

Radtke’s getting press right now thanks to a fairly slow news cycle. But she’s not turning that into $$$s yet. And for a campaign to trump their fundraising success out the gate ($150,000 in December!!!!) but then dismiss fundraising 90 days later (Well, we weren’t going to get a lot of money early anyway.) is terrible message control and very schizophrenic.

There are proper ways to respond to these numbers. Continually nipping at George Allen’s heels and hoping he’ll say your name is not a way to run and win a campaign.

Britt-you usually seem like a pretty down to earth guy. You have to realize that — just looking at reality — Radtke’s chance of beating Allen for the nomination are 100-1, at best.

  7. Britt Howard April 12, 2011 17:46 pm

Steve, I think I see something you don’t. Ordinarily, with the financial and infrstructural advantage a guy like George Allen has, I would agree the odds would be fairly steep.

  8. Britt Howard April 12, 2011 17:53 pm

Webb was a good candidate when he beat Allen, no question. That said, that shouldn’t have happend either. Allen had quite the fund raising advantage then.

Who knows Steve, Democrats may end up jumping in the GOP primary to vote for Allen……just to increase the chances that he is the one they get to face in the general.
(Had to post again, my “smart phone” makes it easy to send the message before you’re ready.)

“Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbour?!”

  10. Britt Howard April 12, 2011 17:58 pm

Jason, I have said elsewhere, she doesn’t need him to say her name.

  11. ToR April 12, 2011 20:49 pm

Allen might have the money but he’s got next to no moral high ground or credibility. Of course that doesn’t really matter. Money translates into canvassers, phone calls, mailers, and maybe even road signs-which get voters out and win elections.

  12. Ward Smythe April 12, 2011 21:50 pm

@Britt Howard, have you forgotten that Allen lost by a fraction of a percentage on a night when Republicans across the country were getting slaughtered? He had the full force of the DNC, the Washington Post and Moveon.org running against him.

There were significant problems with the campaign. And yes there are votes he has to answer for.

But anyone who says Allen lost in 2006 because of his Senate voting record just wasn’t paying attention.

This is not the way to treat your friends Shaun, you are better than this.

Don’t know why BD didn’t report on Bolling’s endorsement of George Allen this week, but that if isn’t a stake in Ratke’s heart, I don’t know what is. She is really becoming a side show. She’ll have to tack hard Libertarian now. Ringy dingy? Is this Ron Paul?

  15. Jacob Roginsky April 15, 2011 06:38 am

Shaun, I suppose you said it inadvertently, but the Germans did not bomb Pearl Harbour — the Japanese did.

I also question your analogy. Radtke is not to George Allen what was the United States to Japan. The United States was a sleeping giant when it was attacked. Jamie is just a power and fame hungry person, apparently growing smaller as the Tea Parties are beginning to see her for what she is.
