Thank you, Governor McDonnell
By | Wednesday, March 30th, 2011 | Policy

While nearly everyone has been focused on the proposed district maps, Governor McDonnell did a very brave thing and vetoed the bill to raise medical malpractice caps (Washington Post).

Thank you, Governor, for doing what I asked about a month ago. I know it wasn’t easy.

About the author

D.J. McGuire

Former candidate for Board of Supervisors in Spotsylvania, current blogger, economics teacher, and long-rumored windbag. There are two causes closest to the heart: steering the country away from the social democratic nonsense that is sinking Europe, and convincing the rest of the "rightosphere" that the NBA really is a joy to watch.

Yes, thank you Governor McDonnell to allow medical malpractice to go unpunished.

I am a truck driver. Let a truck driver make a mistake and the world is the limit, but allow someone in the medical field to make a mistake and we are expected to be forgiving.

I do not understand why quakes in the medical field deserve special protection.

Er, they’re still on the hook for a max of $2 million. Hardly “unpunished.”

Oh, and if you want us to take more seriously your concern for *quacks*, you might want to spell the word properly.

The world is the limit for a truck driver when he makes a mistake? Even Bill Gates must be envious of deep pockets like that. If I were you I’d be concerned that Obama and the Dems are going to demonize you (while they enrich themselves). Or are you operating without insurance?? If so, naughty naughty.

Old style Liberals could actually make plausible arguments back in the day. Modern day Leftists however seem to be victims of their compatriots’ New Age educational practices.

Bad call by McDonnell. The bill was a result of a bi-partisan compromise reached after years of negotiations with all the stakeholders. He runs the risk of being overriden here.
