What Job Does Jim Webb Want?
By Ward Smythe | Wednesday, March 23rd, 2011 | Politics
According to the RTD, Jim Webb is dropping hints that he wants another job.
“I’m not thinking about running for re-election, but I’m not going away, either,” he said. “I intend to stay politically involved.”
Richmond Times Dispatch: Webb hints at another public role
It’s been rumored for quite a while that he wanted to be Secretary of Defense. While we aren’t fond of him as a senator, his background and experience just might make that a good thing. For all of us.
But on more than one occasion, even as recent as this week on Libya, he’s questioned the actions of the Obama Administration. That’s not your typical job-seeking plan.
Webb doesn’t have a history of staying put in one place for very long. Whether it’s restlessness or a strategy to get to the job that he really wants, we just don’t know.
Many of us predicted that he would be a one-term Senator. But most of us thought it would be because he wouldn’t survive re-election.

One has only to read Reagan to know how bad he was as Secretary of the Navy. Does anyone think Obama thinks he will be a loyal Secretary of Defense like Gates has been ? Webb may want the job but I’ll bet he doesn’t get it.
