Another Potential Republican Senate Candidate
By | Friday, March 18th, 2011 | Politics

Timothy Donner is considering a run for the Republican nomination for US Senate in 2012 according to the Richmond Times Dispatch and Politico.

“He’s going through a very deliberative process, talking with his friends, his family. He’s a couple weeks away,” said Jim Dornan, an informal adviser to Donner.  “He’s really concerned about [President] Obama’s policies and the impact on the commonwealth.  He’s looked at the field of candidates and he doesn’t believe that any of them represent those in the commonwealth that believe in the concept of a citizen legislature.”

Donner is the founder of Horizons Television Inc and currently sits on the board of Virginia Institute for Public Policy. His bio from their Board page:

Mr. Donner has served on the boards of trustees of the following organizations: the William H. Donner Foundation of New York, a diversified philanthropic foundation with assets of over $100 million; Radio America, the conservative radio network; Values Through Media, Cal Thomas’s foundation targeted at the mainstream media; the National Mental Health Association of Alexandria, Virginia; and the Donner Canadian Foundation, the third-largest national foundation in Canada.

He also serves on the board of One Generation Away.

Former Governor and Senator George Allen, Former Tea Party Patriots  Chair Jamie Radtke and Virginia Beach attorney David McCormick have already announced. Prince William County Chairman Corey Stewart, Delegate Bob Marshall and Bishop E. W. Jackson are also rumored to be considering runs.

…or does not see any of the other challengers as a “viable” contender against Allen.

There is no “or” about it, Shaun. Any new entrant must think they can beat Allen and any other fellow challenger.
