Virginia Dems love Kaine, so sayeth PPP
By | Monday, March 7th, 2011 | Politics

Here’s something interesting from a recent Public Policy Poll. Dems really love Tim Kaine:

“Given a laundry list of names to choose from 53% of primary voters in Virginia say Kaine is their first choice to 9% each for Tom Perriello, Rick Boucher, and Bobby Scott, 8% for Doug Wilder, 3% for Gerry Connolly, and 1% for Glenn Nye.”

Budget deficits? Proposed the largest tax increase in Virginia history? Did nothing on transportation? Misplaced $1.4 billion at VDOT? Part-time governor, full-time Obama cheerleader?

Keep it up VA Dems, you’re practically giving the GOP the 2012 U.S. Senate seat!

Kaine may be fatuous and incompetent but Allen has his own liabilities which he better not forget. However, the Repubs should carry the VA Senate seat and the state in the 2012 Pres election with relative ease. If they don’t they will be toast.

Politics is what you done for me lately.

Allen’s issues were years ago; Kaine’s are fresh.

    Kaine is toast.

    Run Timmy run!

I was referring to Allen’ liability of creating new liabilities but I don’t really disagree given the current electoral dynamics in VA.

Republicans paint themselves into a moral corner and the media is proud to keep them there. While Obama’s Organizing for America and MSNBC is breaking out Saul Alinsky and community organizing tactics, the Republicans are standing on their bible…or whatever they stand on. McCain comes to mind.

Obama knows Kaine is a strong ally and Kaine will support Obama’s agenda. Do not underestimate the OFA machine firing up the engines in Chicago, Illinois and Kaine has no problem riding that train up to DC. Hmm…

I’m not surprised by the poll. However, notice that Virginia’s Democratic “net roots” has a totally different opnion. Blue Virginia is practically a Perriollo fan site these days and NLS has the added the caption “Anybody but Kaine” to the front page.

Good point Steve. One of the few (if not the only) lone House members Obama visited during November’s shellacking was Perriello.

He visited others but those were at his stops to save the Senate from Tea Party candidates (had to get that in there). I still think its whoever Obama deems worthy because of the community organizational influence.

The Chicago machine co-located at the WH is not going to roll the dice with Perriello in a negative election cycle for Dems here. They are worried about the Messiah’s vote total remember. They don’t give a flying hoot about the “netroots” either. Those are just the useful idiots. Look at their track record in NY, PA, FL, IL etc. They always go with the corrupt insider.

Tim Kaine, the let’s balance the budget in Virginia by raising taxes (typical Democrat) and closing Rest Areas on Virginia’s Interstates governor??? THAT Tim Kaine? Yeah I want him to run for Senator so I can thank him with my vote (not) for making such difficult choices while being an Obama sycophant in Richmond.

  9. Steve Vaughan March 8, 2011 13:07 pm

Val: kind of missed my point. The “net roots” on both sides are more ideological and extreme than the real parties they say they represent.
It’s why George Allen is more popular with real Republicans than with virtual Republicans as well.

    Steve,

Talking to the Democrats I know, they want Perriello. A friend of mine is a staffer in Richmond and I asked her to name her pick: Perriello.

It’s not surprising to see Kaine in the lead, it is surprising to see such a wide chasm between the candidates.

  11. Valentinus March 8, 2011 13:28 pm

    SV,

I understood your point and agree with it. I just stated that Obama was not going to be swayed by his netroots in making a choice of who to appoint I mean anoint for VA Senate. The Chicago machine appoints who is bought and paid for. They don’t take kindly to primary “challenges” from non approved candidates.

    Gotta love the video!

George Allen was the guest speaker today at my Republican Women Club (BSRWC). As always, he is very impressive and I was impressed he would come speak for such a small group.
