STAND BACK!!! Jim Webb Raised $12,000!!!!
By Shaun Kenney | Tuesday, February 1st, 2011 | PoliticsThe USA Today remarks on the anemic pace of fundraising for a candidate whose political life is on the line in 2012:
The first-term senator is viewed by non-partisan political analyst Charlie Cook and others to be among the most vulnerable senators in either party who is up for re-election in 2012. Republicans George Allen, who was defeated by Webb in 2006, and Jamie Radtke, a Virginia Tea Party leader, have announced they intend to run.
Webb said recently that he was confident he could raise the necessary campaign funds once he announced for a second term, according to reports in The Hill and National Journal.
Former Virginia governor Tim Kaine told USA TO—
Yeah, no one wants to hear about Tim Kaine’s thoughts, but we do want to know how Jim Webb intends to finance his campaign? Pixie dust? Or perhaps the first go was just so easy that meeelions of dollars will simply fall into his lap?
…or does this point to the fact that some Democrats are simply no longer enamored with the Republican turncoat? $12,000 is just plain weak right there for a statewide candidate in Virginia.
Odd happenings… ones that only fuel speculation that Webb is indeed being scouted as a possible replacement to SecDef Gates — when the shoe drops.

One would think with your Party in financial ruin the last account you’d be worried about is a man that has served this Country far greater than any of your “candidates” could ever imagine.
….priorities
I love it. Where were you when Clinton was running for president?!?!
So at this rate, George Allen, or Jamie Radtke, et al. only need to raise about $100,000 to “buy” the election?
Kris,
DNC, DCCC & DCSC are in worse combined financial status than their R counterparts. RNC might be troubled but taking steps to correct it at least. Where’s the change in D?
I wouldn’t read into this too much. Webb notoriously hates fundraising and campaigning. But he’s 20 months out from the general election, where in 2006 he announced 9 months out and raised enough money and support to win. If he commits the money is there, whether directly or outside groups coming into play.
Our party isn’t in financial ruin. The RNC may be, but they aren’t the party.
Granted, it’s easier to raise money when you pander to big dollar donors – like making the head of GE your “jobs” panel leader, or hosting your nominating convention in the home town of Bank of America – so I’m surprised Webb hasn’t tried to cash in.
Webb hates fundraising and fundraisers. I’m sure he’ll be able to raise money if he wants to, but he has to want to. And there’s no evidence that he does.
Which makes me think he knows there’s no point – either because he isn’t running or he’s heading to a new job.
maybe Tim Kaine is helping Webb get a new job in the administration so Timmy himself can run for US Senate?
If only DADT was alive and well in campaign finance…
12k?
