McDonnell Approves Changes to Allow Lawful Carry of Firearms in State Forests
By Krystle Weeks | Wednesday, January 19th, 2011 | PolicyGovernor Bob McDonnell recently approved changes to the Virginia Department of Forestry’s Virginia State Forest Regulation 4VAC10-30-170, which will allow lawful carry of firearms in State Forests. These changes will allow firearms for those with a concealed carry permit, as well as open carrying for anyone in lawful possession of a firearm.
The change to the code is as follows:
No person shall bring into or have in any forest any explosive or explosive substance. This regulation shall not apply to the lawful carrying of firearms and firearm ammunition.
This is good news for supporters of the Second Amendment and will alleviate a lot of headaches for gun owners across the Commonwealth, who visit State Forests.
