Virginia Tea Party Alliance supports Green; two local endorsements for Stuart
By JR Hoeft | Monday, January 17th, 2011 | PoliticsSeveral organizations have gone to the wire with their endorsements in the 91st District Republican primary, which being held Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011 to replace Del. Tom Gear.
The Chris Stuart campaign released yesterday two more endorsements for their candidate:
Hampton River Coalition-
The Hampton River Coalition is a group of motivated citizens dedicated to waterway and dredging issues endorsed Councilman Chris Stuart because they know he understands the needs and concerns of waterfront homeowners. Wade Palmore Chairman of the Hampton River Coalition issued the following statement regarding the endorsement:
“Councilman Stuart was the driving force behind the City of Hampton’s decision to include all of the previously excluded ancillary channels in the Hampton River Dredging Project.
Chris worked nearly daily with the HRC for six months and finally achieved 100% inclusion for all the planned homeowners this [past] December.
On top of helping us with our waterway concerns, Councilman Stuart has helped our community in other ways. He has created over 550 jobs in the community, cut government spending and is the only candidate that has taken the pledge to RESIGN as a VA Delegate if he votes for an increase in your VA state taxes.
Chris is a friend, and family man with deep ties to the community. As your delegate he will continue to ensure the health and recreational value of our waterways as well as for the rest for the state.”
State Coalition for Justice for Civil Rights-
The Coalition for Justice for Civil Rights is based in Hampton, Virginia with 30 branches across the Commonwealth of Virginia. The Coalition interviewed several candidates in the 91st House of Delegates race and endorsed Councilman Chris Stuart hailing his record of job creation, dedication to justice and civil rights, and record as a Hampton City Councilman. Coalition President Rudy Langford released the following statement:
“After the long standing working relationship with former Delegate Tom Gear and his supporters for many years, and upon Delegate Gear’s retirement, the Coalition for Justice endorsed Hampton City Councilmember Chris Stuart because Councilmember Stuart is compassionate, creates jobs and has been accessible to the citizens of Hampton. Those are some of the attributes of former Delegate Tom Gear and as, President I am proud that the Coalition gave it’s endorsement to Councilman Chris Stuart. The most recent effort of the Coalition and Councilman Stuart to address the needs of the residents of Buckroe Mobile Home Park is but one example of the type of Delegate that Chris will be for us in Richmond. “
Not to be outdone the Virginia Tea Party Alliance has thrown its support to Chad Green:
There have been false accusations of Green by Chris Stuart. Both Stuart and Helsel have taken money from the liberal International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Gear personally endorsed Teresa Schmidt, but the local tea party did not feel that her qualifications were as strong as Chad Green’s.
We are proud to back the Peninsula Tea Party in its endorsement of Chad Green to replace retiring Delegate Tom Gear.

It’s worth noting that, after researching the residence addresses of the Coaliton for Justice voting members who voted for Stuart (Rudy Langford, Frank Bryant, Gerry Banks, and Shaun Brown) — none of the first three line in the 91st District. We could not verify the address of Shaun Brown based on the spelling (or possibly misspelling) of his name. Regardless, the folks who voted for Chris actually live and vote in the real district where Chris lives, not the 91st where he established his “new” address less than two weeks ago.
More cronyism. More nepotism. More deceit and duplicity. I’m totally shocked that the downtown crowd has given the nod to a downtown insider.
“Hey!”, members of the Council for Justice for Civil Rights who voted for Chris — “if you like him so much, why don’t you vote for him when he runs in YOUR District? It’s where he SHOULD be running, anyway.”
I’m sure he can use one of his four URLs for that race.
Over here in the 91st, we don’t want him, his sleazy antics, his meretricious and misleading flyers, and we definitely don’t want you interfering with the election of a LEGITIMATE, non-opportunistic candidate.
@lifelongelephant who is the “we” keep using as far as your research? Which campaign are you working for.

@lawyer4fun — I’m not affiliated with ANY campaign. I received a call from three of the four candidates early on including one from Chris) and spoke to the 4th candidate at the forum. I’ve tried to look at this race objectively and had hoped for alot more from Stuart than he has delivered. He’s been a disappointment and an embarrassment. I haven’t given a penny to anyone and tomorrow will go to vote with my wife and likely stick around to do my part to see that an honest candidate gets elected — which pretty much leaves Stuart out of the mix. I’m a retired military officer, a West Point graduate, and a small business owner. You’ve got the wrong guy if you think I’m in someone’s pocket or if you think this disgust isn’t heartfelt. I went to elementary school here, went to middle school at the school where voting will take place here and graduated from high school here. I just watched Chris Stuart get blasted again by outgoing delegate Tom Gear on the evening news over here because
Stuart just doesn’t get it: character IS important. Maybe not to you, but then again, you are a “lawyer4fun.” That’s got to be a real neat pasttime. For what it’s worth, I’ve met some fine lawyers in my lifetime — true champions of justice and “the little guy”. I’ve also met sheisters and charlatans who prey on anyone for a case or a retainer. I recall when Clinton as a lawyer was being investigated over Lewinsky. With a moniker like yours and your predisposition to think something shady is afoot, I imagine there is alot of gray area in your blurry world — of course, it all depends on “What the definition of ‘is’ is . . .”
As for me, I’m older but still a warrior. Which type of lawyer are you when you’re having fun doing it?
I’m not really a Tea Partier, but I am impressed that they endorsed Chad Green for Delegate. He is a fine and honest fellow. A very credible candidate.
I’m disappointed that the CJCR endorsed Stuart. I’m guessing Stuart told them what they wanted to hear. That doesn’t surprise me. He is doing that all over the place. Why would the CJCR want to endorse Stuart when none of their voting members live in the 91st District? Why would voters in the 91st care what the CJCR outsiders want?
