Words you can no longer use in politics
By | Monday, January 10th, 2011 | Politics

If I ever see a liberal use these words again, I am automatically accusing them of inciting violence.

  • Campaign
  • Battleground District
  • Targeted Race
  • Tactical Voting
  • Offensive
  • Defensive
  • Collateral Damage

Here’s more from Howard Kurtz:

Journalists often use military terminology in describing campaigns. We talk about the air war, the bombshells, targeting politicians, knocking them off, candidates returning fire or being out of ammunition. So we shouldn’t act shocked when politicians do the same thing. Obviously, Palin should have used dots or asterisks on her map. But does anyone seriously believe she was trying to incite violence?

Yes, Howard: the left in this country who are trying to make this into a political movement when what we really should be doing is praying for the victims.

It’s sick.

Also, lest we forget about the left’s use of the English language about their loyal political opponents, recall this post I put up a few weeks ago which had these examples from a liberal blog in Virginia:

Cuccinelli is a “Grand Inquisitor”
McDonnell is “Pat Robertson’s Manchurian Candidate”
Republicans are “Repugs”
A U.S. Senator is a “scumbag”
George Allen is “Orwellian”

I’ve been back to said blog, and I can assure you the tone hasn’t gotten any better.

Finally, I expect Jim Webb will no longer be “Born Fightin’.” We wouldn’t want to be violent, after all.

Don’t forget that the Clintons were the first to use the term “war room” during his campaign. Althought I’m sure with Hillary in charge of bimbo erruptions, that was a pretty accurate description.

I don’t want to see the “professional left” use any form of hyperbole ever again. If so — that’s threatening speech.

    “Call ‘em out!”

Don’t forget all the Taliban Bob comments, too.

I guess it was a slow political news day. You all are killing me…

All of your examples are clearly exactly the same as Boehner saying Rep. Driehaus is a dead man.

You’re all such tough, brave men, refusing to admit any culpability from you or your allies. That’s what strong men do, right? Never admit any fault? Even in the face of all evidence to the contrary?

    Sad.

  10. Britt Howard January 10, 2011 23:13 pm

Miles, what culpability should the average non-Democrat admit to? Just curious as to what exactly those of us that are not in your party should admit guilt for.

And, what fault have you admitted to? Perhaps conservatives need your good example.

No, Miles…it was a liberal on Daily Kos who said Rep. Gifford was “dead” to him because she voted against Speaker Pelosi.

But I suppose that information doesn’t quite fit your template.

Let’s just stipulate that no Dem or Repub politician has advocated violence so far. Let’s also stipulate that no one needs to modify their views or their political positions based on the actions of paranoid schizophrenics. That includes enviro bunnies and Al Gore who are not responsible for the UNIbomber even though he claimed they inspired him.

    Miles:

Don’t you have some locally-sourced wood or other renewable energy product to go and burn? Or maybe you can go find that global warming you claim is around because it has been pretty cold lately.

I’m just trying to make you useful in some shape or form, but I’m really having to stretch…

  14. Brian Schoeneman January 11, 2011 06:02 am

Miles, what evidence ton the contrary? You have NO evidence anything anyone in politics has said has had any impact on this guy.

That is what is so ridiculous about your position.

  15. Brian Kirwin January 11, 2011 06:44 am

Miles is so liberal I’m surprised he hasn’t changed his name to Kilometers.

As someone who shifted from the left to the right in his mid 30′s I can clearly see that some elements of both use combative language. It comes from both sides. Enough bickering over who uses it more.. From 10,000 feet buzzing tghe political landscape it appears to be a war between ideological purists from both spheres. You people can knock this BS off and show some leadership as in all of you.. regardless of party.

  17. Steve Vaughan January 11, 2011 09:57 am

Valentius: I almost agree with you. With the exception of anyone who has said any variation on “we’ll have to consider second amendment solutions” or “if we don’t win at the ballot box we’ll have to consider the bullet box.” Those seem to be clear incitements to violence. But they’ve only been used by a couple of fringe candidates, who didn’t win.

The number one word of the year for Democrats: vitriol.

If I hear that word one more time…..ugh!
