‘Mother,’ ‘Father’ Changing to ‘Parent One,’ ‘Parent Two’ on Passport Applications
FOX News
The words “mother” and “father” will be removed from U.S. passport applications and replaced with gender neutral terminology, the State Department says.
Oh. Good. Grief.
Yes I understand that the State Department says that this is to “provide a gender neutral description of a child’s parents and in recognition of different types of families.” I get that.
But I don’t get why it’s necessary. And I really don’t think this is the biggest issue the State Department has to be worried about.
Here’s the kicker from the article:
“Sprague said the decision to remove the traditional parenting names was not an act of political correctness.”
Give me a break.

But wait…
there is a “defacto truce” in the culture war right?
Isn’t a truce supposed to be two-sided?
I prefer the term “Government approved supervisor.”
…and we wonder why, despite Foggy Bottom’s “best efforts,” Iran and North Korea are inching closer to becoming nuclear powers. At least we didn’t have to learn of this from Julian Assange.
In the SNL Conehead skits, they are called “parental unit 1″ and “parental unit 2.” Don’t you love it when life imitates art?
Yea, well the sticky part is the fighting over who gets to be the “#1 parent” and who gets to be the “butt” of all the #2 jokes.
Sadly this is a bit more sinister than funny. The leftists have long been opposed to any opposition to their beloved totalitarian government. This includes the family. Deconstructing it and making it socially meaningless is a favorite hobby. Just read the writings of the Fabians and HG Wells. Children should sue parents (cf Hillary Clinton), children should follow the government leaders not their parents (cf Al Gore on “global warming”), govt know best how to feed children (cf. Michelle Obama) etc etc.
@ valentinus
Thank you, excellent point.
Without the family unit, limited government is an impossibility.
