Chad Green enters the race in the 91st
By | Monday, January 3rd, 2011 | Politics

First Chris Stuart…now Chad Green:

Seaford Attorney Chad Green will seek the Republican nomination for the House of Delegates seat vacated by Tom Gear this past week.
A lifelong resident of the peninsula and a fifth generation resident of York County, Green serves as Second Vice-Chairman of the York County Republican party, and believes common sense conservative leadership is exactly what is needed in Richmond.
“The best way to understand what someone will do in office is to examine what that person has already done. I believe the House of Delegates is more about public service than political service.”
Green has been heavily involved in the peninsula, serving as President-elect of the Grafton Kiwanis Club, member of the Lafayette Gun Club, a lifetime member of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, the York County Waterways Alliance, Ducks Unlimited, the Coastal Conservation Alliance, and a member of the board of directors of Victory YMCA, the Boy Scouts, the Virginia Living Museum, Southeast Community Day Planning Committee, and Vice-Chairman of the York County 4th of July Committee.
Green has coached high school basketball and has served on the Advisory Board for the York County Superintendent of Education, and is a member of the York Foundation for Public Education.
According to Green, his involvement in so many organizations has taught him a great deal about the role of government in our private lives.
“Government has its place, but that place is to take care of its basic responsibilities without invading into our private, daily lives. We need to strike the right balance between government and private solutions.
A few miles up the road in Washington, our current President and his allies have expanded their power as never before. The government is becoming larger, yet our nation is becoming weaker. Green also believes that the US Constitution means what it says, and should not be tread upon.
Having the right leadership in Richmond is more important now than ever before. We have an excellent Governor, but he needs strong conservative leadership in the House of Delegates and that is where I can help.”
Green believes our delegate should work hard to represent the entire district, and not just certain areas. Green will provide leadership driven by vision, along with conservative principles and values.

I’ll be speaking with as many candidates as I can to find out more about them and report back to you. Especially since I’m also writing a Daily Press column about them. ;-)

Having sat through quite a few YCRC meetings with Chad in attendance, he is the go to guy for his encyclopedic knowledge of our State rules and Virginia laws. I know he was considering running for the York County Board of Supervisors, but he will do great representing us here in the 91st.

Is he really an attorney? Where does he practice? I thought he managed property?

I’ve checked into it Lynn22, and apparently he does both. There was a rumor going around that he is not licensed in Virginia, but like most political rumors, it was not correct. I’ll check with some Tea Party people and find out more.

Update…I’m hearing some good things about him. People seem to like him personally, and more importantly to me he may be a real conservative. Will continue to update.

Chad Green has received several endorsements from local party leaders. I cannot find a website for him yet, but he does have a Facebook page up:

I recently moved to Fla but lived in the County when Chad Green ran for Board of Supervisors and lost., I was not very impressed with his credentials…He was a nice guy and yes he was an attorney and had been for many years, but never practiced Law in Va.. He had never met a payroll, managed a business or employed a single person that was why I did not vote for him. . His dad was a dentist in Newport News, and reportedly had only contributed $150.00 towards his campaign… What does that tell you..

@Harryt, not much except he was not great at fundraising. What was his platform?

  9. Tea Party Dude January 4, 2011 16:18 pm

I’ve seen Green’s endorsement list…apparently a great many people disagree with the person from Florida about whether he is impressive. Mr. Stork from Florida must be interested enough in the race to have researched Green’s financial records. Sounds like the dirt is flying.

Is it true that the campaign is already getting dirty? People are saying that Stuart purchased the domain name that Green was going to use for the website. Dirty, but at least that puts us all on notice that this will race will be entertaining. And some fake poster from Florida just happens to remember a contribution from a past election? Woo hoo!! This one will be fun.

Apparently Del. Pogge has endorsed him. That likely means he’s a true believer in the “no taxes ever” dogma.

I know Chad personally and have worked with Chris Stuart professionally. Chris talked the talk but didn’t followed thru. Always left the work to others and didn’t follow up. I was not impressed with Chris. I am not surprised in hearing he tried to buy the domain name Chad was gonna use for his website. Chris has this ‘ I am better than you ‘ attitude that I have never, even for a second, felt around Chad. Chad also knows the law and takes every opportunity to educate people about their community and whats going on around them. He has my vote if only because I know he’s the better man.

  15. Mark Leigh January 13, 2011 07:14 am

I will be voting for Chad Green, I hope he is able to get on Radio 790 with Tony before the 18th .

  16. Poquoson Guy January 16, 2011 08:16 am

Chad is a smart conservative. Although, Gordon Helsel is a good man too, Chad will get my vote. He is a friend of the water, and has the best chance of winning, for a long, long time.
