Kaine to stay as DNC Chair; says Obama will not be challenged in 2012
By JR Hoeft | Sunday, January 2nd, 2011 | PoliticsFrom the AP reporting on Tim Kaine’s appearance on “State of the Union” on CNN, Former part-time Virginia governor now full-time DNC Chair and Obama Cheerleader Tim Kaine said he expects to remain in that job for another two-year term and that the chances of Obama being challenged are “virtually nil”.
Kaine “said there’s always the possibility that a fringe candidate could try to mount a challenge. But Mr. Kaine said Democrats feel very good about Mr. Obama’s re-election prospects if, as Mr. Kaine put it, the president keeps doing the job that people elected him to do.”

Amazing that Kaine gets to keep his job! If you or I had the type of job performance that he has we would have been canned on November 3rd. But I guess the same argument can be said for Nancy Pelosi as well. It should be encouraging to all of the Conservatives, Republicans and Independents that the Democrats STILL do not get it! That will simply make it easier to make and prove our point in 2011 and 2012!!
It’s like Christmas all over again.
Michael said exactly what I came here to say.
It doesn’t exactly speak well about Obama’s performance if the DNC chair even has to address whether or not a sitting president will have to face a serious primary challenge. If my memory is correct, the last time that happened was when Ronald Reagan challenged Gerry Ford in 1976 and when Ted Kennedy challenged Jimmy Carter in 1980. That is interesting company that Kaine is putting President Obama in by inference.
@Hisroc. No, Pat Buchanan in 1992 was the last time there was a serious primary challenge to an incumbent President. Bush lost.
Still, I don’t foresee a serious Democratic challenger to Obama in 2012.
Kaine’s correct. Any challenge in 2012 would come from someone along the lines of Kucinich, Mike Gravel and be beaten back with no sweat.
Craig Kilby,
Sorry, but most people would categorize Pat Buchanan a fringe candidate, like Mike Gravel, Dennis Kucinich, or Ron Paul. To my knowledge, he didn’t win any primaries and the closest he came to claiming any delegates was his 30-some percentage in New Hampshire. By Super Tuesday he was out of the race.
Maybe Mr. Kaine will suggest to Mr. Obama how we can donate our private retirement funds to bail out the Government so we can be more like Europe:

Whatever the valid criticisms of Republicans, it is obvious that they are the only adults in politics at this time. When their leaders are discredited etc they actually are forced to exit the stage. The Dems are like demented teenagers who deny any reality other than their own. Dem supporters are equally to blame of course for blindly supporting the corrupt leftist machine the Dems have become. It is good that Dems are throwing off the mask that they successfully hid behind the last 30 years and are revealing themselves. One can only hope that the Repubs even if they can’t stand to be consistently conservative at least remain adults.
