Time for the 2010 Berry Awards…now accepting your nominations
By | Saturday, November 6th, 2010 | Catch-All

As we did last year, it’s time to take nominations for our 2nd Annual Berry Awards, where you, our super-smart and highly discerning reader, pick the best conservative campaign, committee, elected official, or non-profit video, blog/website, use of social media (Facebook, Twitter, SMS Text, etc), and overall use of Web 2.0. This does not have to be Virginia specific.

Leave your nomination in the comments section, but be sure to INCLUDE THE LINK! Just leave the link and what category you’re nominating for, advocacy is not required nor desired. For example:

See last year’s Berry Award winners

Nominations are due by Nov. 20. At that time, Bearing Drift contributors will pick the top 5 in each category and we will put them up for a vote where you, again, the reader, will have two weeks to vote for the best. Feel free to nominate more than one in each category and to self-nominate. Also, don’t forget state and local officials, as well as past primary campaigns. Some of those were really good too, even though they may have not won.

Webmasters / New Media designers winners in each category will receive their pick from Red Store Virginia and our coveted “Berry Award winner” gif. Not to mention the praise and adoration of the online conservative political community.

Can we nominate an entity for worst campaign? I can think of one that’s deserving of that award…

    J. Christopher,

Would you be referring to someone who tries to defend the Second Amendment and winds up blowing his own foot off?

Use of social media: Palin. Her tweets and facebook posts generate headlines everywhere

Permit me to be the ant at the picnic. I don’t look at campaign websites, ever. Of course I look at BearingDrift.com! Sometimes, a few other Virginia blogs. The Corner, yes, Politico, sometimes. But that’s it.

Campaign emails? I read the subject line, then delete.

Facebook? Blocked at work, so I couldn’t see the fb.me links if I wanted to, which I don’t. I’m not on Facebook and don’t want to be.

    TV commercials? I ignore.

Campaign phone calls? I like centipedes more.

Want me to vote for you? Accomplish something. Already in office? Have a good record of voting the way I like.

Social media? Cool idea. I have almost no time for it. The Corner and Bearing Drift are my go-tos.

Web 2.0 use: the Fimian campaign did an excellent job w/ this.

Wish they’d been on the ground in PWC a little more but I found nothing to criticize in their internet campaign. Prompt response commercials. Great use of Fimian badges for Facebook. Strong website. Well done on this front.
