What made the Democrats’ Loss even worse
By Brian Kirwin | Wednesday, November 3rd, 2010 | PoliticsA 60-plus seat loss in the House putting Republicans in control, and making a serious dent in the US Senate was one thing.
The fact that it was in a census year compounds Democrat problems tenfold.
Amid last night’s hoopla, Republicans won a net of at least 8 Governorships (plus Virginia and New Jersey from last year, at least 10).
And at least 17 state legislatures will have flipped from Democrat to Republican in last night’s wave.
That’s a major shift in who will be redrawing the lines for Congressional districts. Of the states that will be reapportioned, either gaining or losing Congressmen, Republicans now control a majority.
So, when the jerks on MSNBC, the Today Show, and other liberal wienie programs ferret out their prepared talking point of “voters won’t like Republicans either,” realize that these state-level victories just made it a whole lot easier to do two things:
1) Retain these seats.
2) Add more victories to them.

The “jerks” on MSNBC have passed their auditions as news clowns and “political analysts” on the new MSNBC comedy channel. Every Democrat who had won something… anything… was hyped and profiled by demonizing the Republican who had lost. A real apex moment came when Olbermann announced Mark Kirk had taken the Illinois Senate seat with no mention that Kirk was a Republican and that it was Obama’s old Senate seat. It was a real treat to see Matthews, Maddow and Olbermann without their characteristic trademark smirks but continuing their pathetic attempts at deriding conservative losers and winners as the election results unfolded.
MSNBC’s new theme song should be “Send in the Clowns” where Stephen Sondheim who composed the song once explained: “if the show isn’t going well, let’s send in the clowns; in other words, ‘let’s do the jokes. As I think of it now, the song could have been called ‘Send in the Fools.’” where he also said “… a synonym for fools is clowns…”
If you don’t like MSNBC then don’t watch it. The rest of America got this message 4 years ago. Only 80,000 people a night watch Chris Matthews. Ten times that many down load porn every night…from what I hear….
Redistricting in states like Florida, Texas, Virginia and so many others will be sweet. I have a feeling that so many people who voted Democrat in large numbers in certain precincts will soon have their wish and will actually be represented by a Democrat. Good for them.
Tim: You really need to stop watching MSNBC. Try that remote control…
Brian: The GOP winners just became responcible for a share of the responcibility for running this country. Can’t say “no” anymore and blame the other side. Now it is time to grow up and move to the center. Can’t retain seats even with redistricting if you can’t pass a bill or work with the Senate or President.
As for Rigell: I expect he’ll save both those carriers(USS Enterprise is to be retired) that are expected to leave taking 22,000 jobs and he’ll save JFCOM’s 11,000 jobs too! We’ll be watching and he has two years to do it.
It will be fun as usual.
Depends what “work with the President” means.
We’ll see what how the Senate Democrats vote on what passes the House. Could it be “no”???
The impact on redistricting is major.
I wonder how many other states may have Virginia’s problem though?
Republicans won so many seats Tuesday that it will be hard to protect them all in redistricting. Scott’s seat needs more people, so the GOP could pull some African-Americans out of the 2nd, making that a safer Republicans seat.
But after that, you don’t have too many shifts here that will actually help the GOP.
As political problems go, of course, that’s not a bad one to have.
