Thanks for reminding us about Perriello, Mr. President
By JR Hoeft | Friday, October 29th, 2010 | Politics
So, President Barack Obama is coming to Charlottesville today to remind voters of what a strong ally he has in Rep. Tom Perriello, Democrat from Virginia’s Fifth District.
And, we couldn’t agree more.
The president will talk about how Mr. Perriello voted for the $814 billion stimulus package which, instead of being used for either tax cuts or infrastructure improvements, went into the financial sector towards transfer payments; hardly creating the “recovery summer” we were supposed to have, and hardly even remotely approaching keeping unemployment below 8%, as promised (we currently stand at 9.6% nationally and in double-digits in the 5th District).
The president will praise Perriello for his votes to support cap-and-trade. This is the same bill that is a direct assault on Virginia’s ability to create jobs and move towards energy independence. Most importantly, it’s a scheme that drives up energy prices in the face of an already down economy. I wonder how the fixed-income mother in the 5th District feels about having to choose between buying groceries and paying the electric bill?
Finally, the president will pound his chest, and with all hope and optimism, laud Perriello for doing what Democrats have been trying since the Great Depression: nationalizing the healthcare system. Perriello, after 22 townhalls, filled to the brim with desperate voters begging, pleading with the congressman to not vote for healthcare, did the exact opposite. Perriello slapped each constituent in the 5th District squarely and directly in the face with the vote.
So, Mr. President. Thank you.

Perriello will join the ranks of candidates that Obama has campaigned for and have gone on to lose.It the Obama kiss of defeat.

I am surprised you are unaware that some $282 billion (over two years) of the stimulus package was comprised of tax cuts.
According to the White House, the cut was $160 billion in the first year.
CTJ breaks it down here:

In fact, this tax cut lowered taxes for 98% of American families.
noway, the stimulus was to be for shovel ready jobs..oh ya,,,they don’t exist.
Robert Hurt couldn’t have done anything or spent any amount of money that will cause the Republican base to come out in droves as much as Obama coming to the 5th district will.
interesting post at HotAir.com about the 5th district race. Amazingly, many 5th district constituents comment on that national blog.
the comments from 5th District constituents were harsh towards Perriello. a tear comes to my eye.
and Fox had this blurb from the Obama-Perriello rally “during terror threat, President keeps to schedule”.
makes them both look bad.
