Kaine has advice for Democrats we really hope they take
By | Monday, September 6th, 2010 | Catch-All

Advice conservatives can only hope is taken by Democratic candidates from former part-time Virginia governor now full-time Democratic National Committee Chairman Tim Kaine:

Kaine has a message for Democrats trying to run from President Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi or Harry Reid: Don’t be foolish.

“If you run away from who you are and you’re a Democrat, it’s foolish,” Kaine said on “Fox News Sunday.” “It’s foolish because you’ve got a lot to be proud of.”

Proud of double-digit unemployment? A $13 trillion debt? The dismantling of health-care? Increasing taxes? An energy policy that punishes our energy sector?

Yep – a lot to be proud of. Please, run on that.

    Daily Presidential Tracking Poll

    and Obama Approval Index History

    http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/obama_administration/obama_approval_index_history

from Rasmussen reports are 2 things that I like to keep an eye on.

“The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Sunday shows that 24% of the nation’s voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as president. Forty-seven percent (47%) Strongly Disapprove, giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -23 (see trends).

That’s the highest level of Strong Disapproval and the lowest Approval Index daily rating yet recorded for this president. However, while the daily ratings are sometime volatile, a Month-by-Month review of the president’s numbers continues to show a high degree of stability. On a full-month basis, the Presidential Approval Index has stayed between -14 and -17 for eight of the past nine months.

Overall, 42% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the president’s performance. This matches the lowest approval rating yet measured for President Obama. Fifty-seven percent (57%) now disapprove.”

Since 09/01/2010, Obama’s numbers have really dropped, have been wondering why.

    total 42/57
    strong 33/67
    Hurt 61 Perriello 35

Those numbers match up a bit.

Democrats Plan Political Triage to Retain House

As Democrats brace for a November wave that threatens their control of the House, party leaders are preparing a brutal triage of their own members in hopes of saving enough seats to keep a slim grip on the majority.
In the next two weeks, Democratic leaders will review new polls and other data that show whether vulnerable incumbents have a path to victory. If not, the party is poised to redirect money to concentrate on trying to protect up to two dozen lawmakers who appear to be in the strongest position to fend off their challengers.

NATIONAL DEMOCRATS PREPARE TO ABANDON PERRIELLO

Perriello fallout: Is Palin right about the National Democratic Party?

“Technically, neither the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, the DNC, nor the White House has officially decided to cut Tom from their 2010 election contribution list. But the party pros responsible for “Are National DEMS dumping Perriello?” headlines had a reason for putting out the story, knowing full well the dynamic they would set in motion.
I ask you: What does the National Democratic leadership gain from this morning’s story about how they have the “cajones” to leave their politically wounded on the battlefield to fend for themselves?

Earth to Washington: This was not a positive story about your political character.

But now the Big Hurt is about to be given to Tom, and it isn’t from the Palin side of the spectrum: it is from allegedly the liberal Democratic side, the top officials no less!!!

I repeat: How does today’s story about Tom help the Democrats do better in November? It doesn’t. The story was to help a few consultants and their clients.

That’s right: it is being used so some consultants and top party officials can have a story after the midterms about how “smart” they were in helping to save this or that incumbent from defeat by making the “tough” decision to redirect funds from those who lost.

It is sophomoric game, hardly “change we can believe in.” It fuels the very cynicism the GOP is using to get back in power this year. It emboldens Republicans who smell the blood in the water, and at the same time demoralizes Democrats.”

    http://www.notlarrysabato.typepad.com/

I wonder if this could have anything to do with the dropping poll numbers?

“If National Democrats want to know why they slow-walked themselves into their current mess, take notice: if all you have are fair-weather friends, then you are far more alone than you realize.”

With Obama’s poll numbers in a death spiral, and the Democrats in Congress facing the mother of all defeats in the November election, Hillary Clinton for President 2012?

hawkins: yeah, I agree that Republicans can smell blood in the water.

But Perriello should not be counted out for at least 3 reasons: he is already well-funded; he is personally a hard working candidate; & when the big Dems supposedly dump him, he can say “see, I’m really not tied to Obama/Pelosi/Reid after all”.

Robert Hurt supporters should not let their guard down for one minute. keep working.

Sounds like the Dems are adding some additional ingredients to enhance the flavor of the crap sandwiches they are trying to sell for the election picnic in November.

  6. James Hawkins September 6, 2010 15:10 pm

The blood in the water is from the knife that Kaine has stuck in Abel Perriello’s back.

Virginia democratic candidates are promising massive tax cuts for all and telling everyone that they did not support the policies of that socialist muslim in the White House.

Tim Kaine tells democrats not to flee from Obama, Pelosi and Reid while he prepares to toss fellow Virginian Abel to los tiburones as a human sacrifice to party unity.

Perhaps I have faith that kelley in virginia and other Robert Hurt supporters will not let their guard down for one minute and will keep working until victory.

And kelley, thanks for telling me to look at NLS and common sense. You are on a roll. Lions and tigers and bears, oh my!

  7. kelley in virginia September 6, 2010 16:08 pm

Michelle Obama to be the Dem’s October surprise. which is she? Lion, tiger, bear? oh my!

There was a wicked witch who had sisters in that story, oh my!
