not only at Common Sense. go over to NLS where all the latest articles are highlighted. The DNC is all but abandoning Perriello.

but the unions still like him; he's got $2.3 million dollars; he still has some whacky libs on his side---continued campaigning for Robert Hurt is still necessary.

nope, I sure didn't think Perriello could beat Goode. And I am embarrassed to say that I paid no attention to the Cong race of '08 because of my fascination with the Presidential race. Other than voting for Cong. Goode, I didn't give the Cong race a 2d thought. There are many of us in the 5th that wish we had worked to get Cong Goode those 3 votes per precinct to keep him in office.

But I've thought of little else since 08. And my goodness, Perriello has voted with Pelosi over & over, time after time. He put the election bulls-eye on his own back.

If Perriello has such tremendous name ID, yet can't break 40%, he is in trouble. His big money will move the polls #s some. The DNC & the unions are promising more money & boots on the ground: that should help him, too. And elevating Jeff Clark will also move poll #s but not enough for Perriello to win.

This is Robert Hurt's race to lose.

"Still, he could lose this district"

"Toto, I've a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore."

"One possible indication of how bad things are: Rep. Tom Perriello's re-election bid. He's a progressive populist Democrat who narrowly beat a Republican incumbent in 2008 in a Republican-leaning district (full of Bible Belt turf) in the central and southern portion of Virginia. Since then, he's been an active and engaged representative, working his district hard, pushing for jobs for his constituents. He voted for Obama's stimulus and health care reform bill, but he has criticized the administration for being too cozy with corporations and for not doing enough to create good-paying jobs in the United States. And he's no flaming lib. He supports gun rights, and he backed the anti-abortion Stupak amendment during the health care legislation debate. He's raised sufficient money. He's aired good-humored ads promoting his endeavors to win jobs for the district.

This summer, I spent a few days with Perriello and concluded that he's basically doing everything right. Still, he could lose this district, which was indeed designed to be an easy GOP win. A recent poll showed Perriello trailing his opponent, a Republican state senator, 61 to 35 percent. There's been criticism of this survey, but even if it's off by 10 points, that's a damn troubling sign for Perriello and discouraging news for his fellow Dems."

Someone thinks that there is a CHANCE that Perriello just might lose this election.

Polls smolls.

I am not sure who is to blame for the inaccuracy, but this most recent poll reported on by Survey USA for August is similar to the results they reported for July. Back in July, in a poll taken by Ayres McHenry & Associates for the pro-Republican group American Action Forum they reported only a 6% lead for Hurt.

I'm beginning to think Survey USA's results can't be trusted. Do their results pass the common sense test? I'm not sure what the problem is with Survey USA but the results they come up with for some reason do not seem to reflect reality.
