Glenn Nye’s Bad Week Continues: Anti-Israel Ad Released
By | Tuesday, August 10th, 2010 | Politics

Glenn Nye’s week just got worse. A day after being announced his political pull was non-existent, a Pro-Israel group released this ad, to air next week:

Scott Rigell released this statement in February regarding Nye’s letter:

“Having just returned from a fact-finding visit to Israel, where I met with senior Israel leadership and saw firsthand the rockets that have terrorized the city of Sderot and neighboring cities in the south of Israel, I am stunned by our freshman congressman’s decision to sign this letter. By signing the letter and aligning himself with the most liberal members of our Congress, including John Conyer, Jim McGovern and Barbara Lee, Congressman Nye seems more concerned about the rights of Hamas than innocent Israeli citizens. Our freshman congressman fails to fully understand that Hamas is an organization that openly calls for the destruction of the State of Israel and has used Israel’s voluntary withdrawal from Gaza to turn schools into terrorist bases, homes into rocket launch pads, and market places into battlefields. The travel restrictions on Gaza are reasonable given Israel’s right, indeed its duty, to protect its citizens. Our freshman congressman has made clear that he has a naïve world view and a fundamental misunderstanding of the nature and scope of the threat posed by Hamas to the citizens of our ally, Israel.”

Glenn wants to be able to tout his foreign policy experience…yeah right. What on earth was he thinking when he signed this letter?

Looks like Scott Rigell was ahead of the game, and Glenn Nye should be ashamed to stand with some of the most liberal members of Congress against Israel.

Israel is the only functional democracy in the Middle East, and the restraint they show in the face of such constant attacks and pressures is amazing.

Nye is losing support all over the place. When your own party says you’re a troubling member, there’s something wrong. Misinformed? That’s just not acceptable. He is not the leader this district needs.

  6. James "turbo" Cohen August 10, 2010 22:21 pm

A Gary Bauer organization that will come out for Rigell when convenient. Of course they have not acknowleged that Kenny is in the race. No surprise.

  7. Brian Cobbs August 10, 2010 23:35 pm

I had no idea that Nye signed this letter. What a disgrace he is.

He better enjoy his last few months in congress, because there is no way the Hamton Roads community is re-electing a member of congress who has shown himself to be inept, incompetent, and who sympathizes with the Hamas’ position.

Hopefully Golden can get some traction because the two major party candidates are just pathetic.

Did some more research this am.. Being a Cohen, I checked with MOT.. This outfit is.. uh.. attempting to turn israel into a wedge issue, not a bad tactic for misinformed voters but hey, Israel has gotten better support from the right in recent history. Problem is that this is not a dem vs gop issue…no matter how Gary Bauer and Bill Kristol want to it to appear.

Take a gander at Sestak’s voting record on this issue and it becomes obvious how much phony neo-right spin this is.. borders on outright lies. All that said, Nye is on the wrong side of history here. He knows it and if he denies it, lets bring this up at the debate with Golden and Rigell on august 19.

57% of Likely Voters Describe Democratic Congressional Agenda As Extreme

Most U.S. voters believe the Democratic congressional agenda is extreme, while a plurality describe the Republican agenda as mainstream.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 57% of Likely U.S. Voters think the agenda of Democrats in Congress is extreme. Thirty-four percent (34%) say it is more accurate to describe the Democratic agenda as mainstream.

Voters are more narrowly divided when it comes to the agenda of congressional Republicans. Forty-five percent (45%) of voters view the GOP agenda as mainstream, but nearly as many (40%) say it’s more accurate to call it extreme. Fifteen percent (15%) are undecided.

The Political Class, however, has dramatically different views of the agendas of the two parties from what Mainstream voters think. Ninety-one percent (91%) of the Political Class say the Democratic agenda in Congress is in the mainstream, but 70% of Mainstream voters see that agenda as extreme.

While 53% of Mainstream voters see the Republican congressional agenda as in the mainstream, 81% of Political Class voters regard it as extreme.

Data released earlier showed that 67% of the Political Class believes the country is heading in the right direction. Among Mainstream voters, 84% say the nation has gotten off on the wrong track.

As most members of Congress head home to make the case for their reelection, only 16% of voters rate the overall performance of Congress as good or excellent. Most voters (56%) still give Congress poor marks for how it’s doing its job.

    More “good” news for Nye.

So far I now have 8 people who will vote for Rigell on 11/02/2010. My goal is get 20. Keep in mind that these people WILL vote, I may have to personally drag them to the ballot box but they will vote.

The only poll that counts is the one on 11/02/2010.

  11. James "turbo" Cohen August 11, 2010 15:22 pm

James, Kenny has Goldwater republicans and Reagan conservative democrats voting for him.. most of them were mature adults when they voted back then. Amazing huh..

  12. James "turbo" Cohen August 11, 2010 15:55 pm

Hot off the wire, this just in from Independent mythbuster (name withheld)..
Emergency Committee for Israel is in the crosshairs, no pun intended, of pro Israel groups who are calling their bluff. Kenny Goldens Israeli citizen staff member is not fooled by this nonsense either.. Kenny can’t possibly be listed as in the race by Gary Bauer’s flim flam site because this phony RINO BS is being propagated for Rigell for a fee of course. Yes, it is off limits to conservatives who do not drink from the gop koolaid bowl. Make a donation, you get your tag line added to the video. Who says you can’t buy an election?

The BS just keeps getting deeper.. Nice try DJ. MYTH BUSTED!

  13. Ron August 11, 2010 22:03 pm

Kenny who? WTF are you talking about? “Kenny has Goldwater republicans and Reagan conservative democrats voting for him…” Do you actually believe this nonsense? You have the right to be a crackpot gadfly if that’s what you want. But if you want any credibility or respectability, dude – a little advice – get off the “Kenny’s gonna win” mantra because you sound like an idiot.

  14. Bryan Stuart August 11, 2010 22:50 pm

Mr. Cohen is so far in the tank for Mr. Golden he needs an oxygen mask.

  15. On the fence August 11, 2010 23:29 pm

Oh, I love it so! This obvious muckraking spin is starting to heat up. All Mr. Golden has to do is step back in the cat bird seat and let the “freshman congressman” and the “political neophyte” self destruct. Grab your buttered popcorn, because this going to be a show to watch!

  16. James Hawkins August 11, 2010 23:55 pm

    @James “turbo” Cohen

I have never said anything negative about either Ken Golden or his supporters.

I want the democrats out of power in Congress. I made a personal decision that the best way to do that was to support the Republican candidate in 2nd district.

Since I am not a republican but an independent, I refused to vote in the Republican primary. I did indicate who my favorite two candidates were, and Mr Golden was one of them.

I would suggest that you start talking to the voters in the 2nd district. When you meet someone who is either undecided or favoring Nye, try to convince them to vote for Mr Golden.

I would “hope” that you might “change” your efforts to be more helpful to Mr Golden.

I doubt that your behavior here is really helpful.

  17. Chris Meeropol August 12, 2010 08:20 am

James, I doubt more than a few dozen voters in the 2nd district read the comments on this blog. All of them are staffers on campaigns or already decided who to vote for.

    Bearing Drift = Psi-Op playground…

  18. Matt Falvey August 16, 2010 00:28 am

The second sentence in this article being unreadable. I find it outrageous when a member of Congress speaks up for human rights. Impeachment is in order.

  19. Rick August 16, 2010 09:45 am

Barely anyone in the district has even heard of Kenny Golden. The people who take the time to comment on this blog are virtually the only folks who know anything about him. He will under no circumstances win the election. Obama and the democrats have given Republicans a golden opportunity to retake the house and, with the best of luck, the senate. How have we responded? By doing our best to shoot ourselves in the foot.

We all have much more in common than we do in contention. What are we doing here? We’re acting like fools battling amongst ourselves instead of facing the Democrats with a unified front. This is a perfect opportunity to overturn the unconstitutional healthcare bill, to peel back oppressive regulation, implement pro-business policies, and keep taxes at bearable levels. If your guy didn’t win the primary, or dropped out early, you have my most sincere condolences. Nobody likes to lose. But will maintaining your pride be a sufficient consolation prize if we all lose on November 2nd?

The Dems will get the last laugh if we keep fighting amongst ourselves. Scott Rigell is not establishment – he’s never held an office. He holds the same conservative principles as every one of us. He moved here with almost nothing and build a business from scratch. This shouldn’t be held against him – it shows he has the leadership abilities, hard work ethic, and bold initiative we desperately need in congress. It is inconceivable that he should be maligned by like-minded conservatives. Lets think smart, think in terms of the big picture, and come out on top in November.

I understand that Nye introduced the legislation which provided funding for Iron Dome. So where does the truth lay?
