Doug Wilder Throws Joe Biden Under the Bus
By | Monday, August 2nd, 2010 | Politics

Oh, not like it hasn’t been speculated for a long time. But former Governor, and failed Presidential candidate L. Douglas Wilder has called for Barack Obama to push Joe Biden to the side and name Hillary Clinton as his running mate for 2012.

In an editorial published in Politico, Wilder says:

With this state of political fragility, Obama needs to reevaluate the policy advisers who brought him here. That leads to the threshold question of whether Joe Biden should remain on the ticket. I say no.

Ouch.

Wilder goes on to say:

If both John McCain and Obama were given a sip of truth serum, both would admit they made serious mistakes in choosing running mates in 2008. McCain can’t do anything about his blunder. Obama can and should.

Wilder has a point. Biden has been nothing but an embarrassment to the Obama Administration. And with Obama’s poll numbers taking and congressional candidates running from his offer to campaign, it’s an embarrassment the President can’t afford.

I don’t think Wilder is off base at all to suggest Biden will not be on the 2012 and that Hillary will.

I just think it’s becoming more and more likely that Hillary will be at the top of the ticket.

Wilder said “The president’s poll numbers can be read different ways, depending on who is doing the reading. One thing is clear, though: He has to improve his favorability numbers, as well as the unsettled national mood reflected in the “right track/wrong track” indicators.”

The he goes on to blame poor Joe Biden for all the problems. (I like Joe Biden by the way.) Joe Biden is not the problem. Actually the country will be much better off if Joe Biden was President.

Now there seems to be many unhappy Clinton-democrats like Gigi Gaston who feel that the democratic nomination was stolen from Clinton by Obama in massive voter fraud.

Everyone hates negative attack ads. Perhaps this year the Republicans should cancel their attack ads against candidates and use that money to reach out to Clinton-democrats. Tell the Clinton-democrats to show their displeasure with the DNC and the Chicago thugs by voting Republican in November,2010.

Send a message to unhappy Clinton-democrats to show their displeasure with the stolen election by not voting at all or voting for Republican or Libertarian candidates. Just do not vote for DNC candidates.

Now tear my theory apart but at least suggest better ideas then mine.

I don’t know that your theory is wrong, except maybe for the part that Republicans in Congress are as unpopular as the Democrats.

And true, Biden is the problem with the Obama Administration. Or certainly not the only problem. Obama’s poll numbers are his own.

Regardless of how it all plays out, I will be very surprised if the Democratic ticket in 2012 is the same as the ticket in 2008.

“except maybe for the part that Republicans in Congress are as unpopular as the Democrats.”

I have read my comment a couple of times and do not understand why you think that ??

Republican candidates hold an eight-point lead over Democrats on the Generic Congressional Ballot for the week ending Sunday, August 1, 2010.

While it’s true that the Republicans lead the generic ballot, the fact that Congressional approval ratings are darn near down in the single digits can’t all be blamed on the Democrats.

All I’m really saying is that this is a “throw the bums out” year. And the Democrats are currently the bums in charge. I just don’t think the lead in the generic ballot is because voters like the Republicans. I think it’s because they’re tired of the Democrats.

If, as is likely, the GOP regains control, they’re going to have to govern differently than the last time they were in the majority.

I don’t have any real confidence in that.
