Palin on Obama: Yes, he has no cojones
By Ward Smythe | Sunday, August 1st, 2010 | Policy
Speaking on “Fox News Sunday” Sarah Palin said that Arizona Governor Jan Brewer is dealing with border security because President Obama is not.
Palin said, “Jan Brewer has the cojones that our president does not have. If our own president will not enforce our federal law, more power to Jan Brewer.”
Now, whether or not you’re a fan of Sarah Palin and whether or not you agree with the Arizona law, Palin and Brewer are right about one thing. The federal government has been woefully incompetent in dealing with the issue of illegal immigration.
And yes, that includes the Administration of George W. Bush.
While I’m not on the Sarah for President bandwagon (and don’t anticipate that I will be), you have to admit that she has the…um…nerve to tell it like it is.

Love her or hate her, she is always good for a quote.
So, let me get this straight. President Bush did all in his power to pass immigration reform, with much help from Democrats, but the republicans would have none of it, and it could not be passed even when he had a majority in Congress. Yet, the last republican candidate for Vice President goes on Fox and insults both the President, and clearly the last President as well, and she is lauded in the conservative press for her candor? How far has the republican party sunk into inane populism and xenophobia?
Mike, why do you and the other mainstream progressives keep digging up and putting lipstick and makeup on the political corpses of the Bush administration which have been buried for almost 2 years so you can keep blaming them?
You guys are becoming the headliners for a remake of the movie “Weekend at Bernies” and with all of your “voodoo” economics, are writing the script for “Weekend at Bernies II”.
The real “Xenophobes” are those like yourself who are “uncontrollably afraid” of “foreigners” who you have defined as rational, Conservative and articulate individuals that are actually citizens of this country.
Tim J, please, read my post again. I did not blame them nor was I being critical of the Bush administration at all. In fact, I supported their proposals for Immigration legislation. It was his own Party that sabotaged immigration reform, prefering instead to attempt to whip up xenophobic radicals. As you know, the Party has done an outstanding job of that.
I want AZ Governor Jan Brewer to show papers to prove she’s a human being. I think it was FOX that did a show on extraterrestrials that live among us, and Governor Brewer does resemble some alien from a B Movie, “Invasion of the Brain Snatchers”, right? I’ve have my suspicions about people like Jan Brewer, Mitch McConnell and Karl Rove because of their lack of human qualities.
As far as the immigration issue goes… Republicans never made a big deal about immigration enforcement during Bush/Cheney but NOW all conservative hell is breaking loose… even though the Obama Administration is deporting MORE illegal’s than Bush ever did. Maybe we should adopt Ronald Wilson Reagan’s immigration policy (look it up morons)
And funny how I didn’t hear NOT ONE WORD on the Cable News about AZ Gov. Jan Brewer’s connection with the Corrections Corp of America. Not to mention I could stop this immigration problem with one thing… ARREST ALL THOSE conservative business people WHO ARE HIRING THE ILLEGAL WORKERS! Republican Party = Hypocrisy
On 7-28-10 I was watching Republicans on Morning Joe (MSNBC) preach about being ADULTS when it comes to our economic meltdown. I say BS! The real ADULTS are trying to demand accountability from those who got us in this financial mess. Republicans want to shift the burden of responsibility on
American working class, teachers, poor people, unions and immigrants.
I wonder if the spoiled Silver Spoons on Morning Joe knew how much they hurt Democrats, Progressives, Liberals when they didn’t challenge NJ Gov. Christie. NOW all over the internet the Conservative wacko groupies are swooning all over Christie like he was a rock star. Of course, because of these Republican low grade thought processes, the right wing monkeys now consider American working class, teachers, poor people, unions and immigrants the biggest threat to our economy
What kind of Americans are stupid enough to believe that decent wages, decent working conditions, enforcing again regulation, reforming our broken financial system and broken healthcare are BAD THINGS! Especially letting all those tax breaks for the rich expire (ten years is enough!) so the rich can again pay their fair share. When the Republicans were running things they started two wars they did not want to finish, set us up for financial system failure and took tax dollars away from grade schools to give BP tax breaks/subsidies (Corporate Welfare). DON’T BELIEVE ME, you rightwing numbskulls, CHECK IT OUT FOR YOURSELVES! consciousmc.blogspot.com
Mike, my point is that by contrasting Republicans now by reach back to Republicans/Democrats during the last Administration is intellectually vacant and irrelevant. That time period is now in the history books and is being taught in High School Government classes. The only point that counts now and into the future is the defacto immigration policy of this administration which is emerging by fiat through lawsuits against a state, non-enforcement of Federal Laws and flowery rhetoric which continues to spew from politicians and their allies.
The end-game in all this is amnesty for illegals who will become a major voting bloc that Progressives feel will ensure the future political dominance of their causes.
Well of course, the republican play book is now to resurrect the Bush policies, if not Bush himself, as if the disaster and debacle that his administration wrought on this country did not happen. I’ll leave two wars out of it because the Bush tax cuts, and their failure to pay attention as Wall Street robbed main street blind, are bad enough. And now, these zealots want to go back to the same Bush policies that got us into the greatest financial meltdown since the Great Depression. Have they no memory? Have they no respect for the american public that was put into great peril and lost much of their net worth by inattention and greed? Anyone who thinks these republicans have learned a lesson from the crisis they created, or will act differently next time around, needs to have their head examined.
Mike, since you have the Republican playbook, perhaps you could scan it for us and post it on the Internet or give it to Wikileaks. You are such a rabid, pro-tax, pro-spend, pro-regulation Democrat that your alleged insight into the thoughts, policies or even aspirations of any GOP elected official is laughable and ridiculous.
And oh by the way, several prominent Democratic senators, Glenn Nye and now even Gerry Connolly support extending the “Bush tax cuts.” The momentum for extending the Bush tax cuts is growing as Americans of all economic status realize the enormous tax burden they are facing when the tax cuts expire on December 31, 2010.
You are on the wring side of history as often as Joe Biden – and it takes a special loser to be able to do that.
Mike, you have obviously developed a “Bush” mental disease similar to all of the other “Bush xenophobes” out there who are convinced that Bush was “Satan” incarnate. Congress was a co-partner with the “Bush Satan” and willfully carried out his every command obviously through the “Bush Satan’s” abilities in mind control. As a minority in Congress, Republicans were initially in league with the “Bush Satan” and started falling back with they felt the “damnation and hellfire” of the voters after the TARP. Then we had an election and the “Bush Satan” was cast out and a Savior appeared who promised the “land of milk and honey” for all, taken from those who had more than they should to those who didn’t.
So in your xenophobic rants about Republicans, we understand your hate and disdain for the “Bush Satan” and his minions. But replaying the same old Republican blame tape again and again should discussed with professionals so you can realize that it is a part of your own personal Hell, not ours.
Frankly Ron and Tim, I have nothing against President George Bush; in fact, I have a picture of him on my desk. I did oppose, and oppose now, the concept of vodoo economics that worships at the alter of tax cuts for the rich as the means to prosperity. Fact is, it is the means to prosperity for the wealthy and the advantaged, but in fact, it has been and will be a formula for disaster for most americans. Reasonable taxes are essential for government to fulfill its responsibilities for national security, general welfare, education, and for transportation. For the far right, no level of taxation is acceptable, and this myopic attention to tax cutting will sow the seeds that will destroy this nation.
