Last week I was sadden by the election results of the 8th district primary where Patrick Murray narrowly beat Matthew Berry in a nail biter. Little did I know that the entire time the Libertarian Party was working towards putting someone on the general election ballot. Earlier this year, the Libertarian Party nominated Matt Mosley as their congressional candidate in the 8th. Currently they have collected the required number of signatures on the ballot and are awaiting judgment from the State Board of Elections to validate them. I do not recall the Libertarian Party ever having a candidate in the 8th so this could be a first.
Speaking to Matt, he informed me he also got into politics very much as I did by getting involved with the Ron Paul presidential campaign in 2008. He is a member of Campaign for Liberty and is also on the Board of Directors of the Libertarian Party of Northern Virginia. Matt lives in Reston with his wife, daughter and 3 dogs.
I’m anxious to see if Matt gets on the ballot for November, if so there is more to come. One of the things Matt said he would do if he is in the running would be to ask the hard questions of Moran on foreign policy in the debates. Now that’s something I want to see!
