Sarah Palin, Oliver North, Lee Greenwood – June 27th
By | Tuesday, June 1st, 2010 | Catch-All

Freedom 1650 AM has kicked off its conservative talk radio programming in a big way – Freedom Fest 2010 at the Ted Constant Convocation Center at ODU on June 27th.

Info/tickets here.

Steve Batton anchors the morning with local talk, and he’s kicking off in a pretty big way, too. Candidates in the June 8th primary have been invited to debate on his program Thursday June 3rd. I checked my datebook, and there’s no Urban League breakfast that morning, so all candidates should be able to make it.

1650 AM (simulcast on 670 AM) has a lineup of Lauras with Laura Ingraham and Dr. Laura Schlessinger.

Add Sarah Palin as the star of Freedom Fest, and 1650 is decisively the home of female conservatism. Politics ain’t a boys club at 1650.

That’s an important distinction, and one worth supporting. Give it a listen. Check out the all-important debate Thursday. And see ya at Freedom Fest 2010

About the author

Brian Kirwin

The right wants to jeer him. The left wants to censor him. Moderates usually want both. Brian Kirwin is a political consultant and public relations strategist in Virginia Beach with a lightning-rod flair. Brian also serves on the VB Arts & Humanities Commission and frequently appears on Hampton Roads theatrical stages, if only to prove that all actors aren’t liberals. Kirwin’s columns stir up debate and hit the political scene with no punches pulled.

Maybe you can get Mike Barrett, Steve V. and Little David some free tickets so they can observe and snicker at the “great unwashed”… or maybe they might even learn a little something about everyday Conservatives?

    Nah… maybe not….

    YEah, maybe not.
I know a lot of “everyday conservatives.” We have some interesting conversations. None of them consider Sarah Palin anything but the on the make grifter that she is.
I’m surprised that a local radio station could come up with her appearance fee.
Taking Sarah seriously is a litmus test. That’s where you go from “oh, you’re more conserative than I am, but we can talk abou this” to “you’re a totally whackjob and I really don’t feel comfotable around you without a sidearm.”

Steve, that’s understandable… they’re probably serving Kool-Aid and beer at the concession stands instead of Progressive “Whine and Cheese”. And Palin is probably getting a huge and obscene cut of the concession and trinket profits for just showing up.

Lots of folks will probably be ‘packin heat’ to protect themselves from each other, which will make for some great conversations about some rights that we’re still supposed to have from that old and obsolete document called the “Constitution”.
