Issued from Steve Thomas today:
Over the past several months, I have talked with numerous Virginians about the troubling direction of our country. From these onversations, I decided to explore the opportunity of running for the Third Congressional District Republican nomination; my goals being to correct the course of our country, expand our party and build on the momentum Governor McDonnell provided in 2009.
I received support from across the district and looked forward to a thorough and complete nomination process. After much discussion with my family and with the interests of the Party in mind, I have decided not to file and run for the District nomination.
In doing so, it will give our presumptive nominee additional time to put together a better chance at financially and logistically defeating the incumbent. However, I look forward to continuing to work within our District and around Richmond to continue expanding the Party and continuing the work we have started.
