Morton gets Landrith’s endorsement in the 5th
By | Monday, April 19th, 2010 | Politics

Feda Morton, candidate for the GOP’s 5th Congressional District nomination, received a significant endorsement from former 5th District GOP Candidate, George Landrith, today.

From Landrith in a Morton release:

For those of you who may not know me, I am George Landrith, and I had the honor of being nominated in both 1994 and 1996 as the Republican nominee to run for Congress and represent the Fifth District. In 1994, I made the decision to run because, much like today, our nation was faced with a leftist Congress and White House determined to force their radical social engineering on our nation.

We were facing the real threat of losing our liberties because of professional politicians who preferred to “play the game” in Washington, rather than stand with strength and courage for the people to preserve their freedoms. We are certainly facing these same problems today – leftist policies in Washington, an incumbent who is part of the problem, and our freedoms at risk. The answer is not to send another professional politician
to replace the incumbent. There is too much complacency, petty partisan politics, and personal plays for career advancement in Washington. What we need is – principled conservative leadership to preserve the American dream.

While Robert Hurt and others may think this election is about who can “play the game” in Washington, Virginians and Americans don’t think freedom is a game. In truth Virginia’s
families are finding it harder than ever to support their families and get by day to day. With the crushing debt growing at an unprecedented pace and the resulting taxes that will be imposed, we need someone who understands that this is not a game to working families across Virginia. We need a principled leader who is prepared to fight for us.

The choice is simple – send someone to Washington to play games with your money and
your freedom OR send someone to fight for you and your family. Feda doesn’t play games, she’s a fighter.

This is why I strongly support Feda Morton and why she has my full endorsement. She is tough. She is a fighter. She will not play games with your trust or vote. She is a principled and steady and constant conservative leader, not a Washington insider. The political brokers and insiders know everything there is to know about how to play the game, but too often, they fall short in what really matters – courageously standing on principle
even when everyone else is playing the political game and currying favor with the professional political classes.

Join me in standing with Feda Morton as we tell Robert Hurt and Washington to stop playing games with the futures of our families and start taking our nation seriously once again.

…what a horrible press release…didn’t realize Hurt was the incumbent

I like Feda, just wish I could see tangible results. Raising as little cash as she just did does not bode well in a district that stretches across 25% of the state. Money will be paramount in getting your message spread.

It appears that Mrs. Morton is slamming Senator Ruff in her effort to discredit Senator Hurt. Classy. I wonder who will be next?

When your press release starts off with something like “Hi, I’m Troy McClure. You might remember me from such telethons as ‘Out With Gout ’88′ and ‘Let’s Save Tony Orlando’s House’” , it’s not going to have much of an effect on me.

On the 5th District Feda’s Endorsements Food Chain, this goes above Phyllis Schafly and below Jerry Falwell, Jr.

    Next?!

Feda is a nice person but she is way out of her league. This is so apparent by listening to her on Joe Thomas’s 5th district Fridays. This past Friday she wasn’t even aware that China already has nuclear weapons. Couple that with the fact that she thinks the recent Bush administration was responsible for NAFTA and that she would legislate from the bible. Hardly someone who could beat Perriello.

Feda’s nice, but out of her league. It’s interesting that she’s picking up so many endorsements though.

I can’t recall any endorsements for the other candidates. I’m guessing Hurt’s got some, but the other candidates? I don’t recall.

Since Landrith was a wingnut who got crushed why would his endorsement carry much weight?

Everyone likes to dismiss Feda as a lightweight, but with the very impressive list of endorsements she has garnered she must have something strong to offer. Most of these folks who have gotten behind her are pretty serious folks and are heavy weights in the conservative community. There must be some solid reason why these folks are chiming in? If not because of Feda maybe they are sending a message that they are really against Hurt and see her as the most anti-Hurt.

Feda sent out press release slamming McPadden too. The subject of the email, bottom line, is about when life begins & who said/supports what.

Meanwhile, Robert Hurt talks about Perriello. who he/we are trying to unseat.

c’mon people, let’s focus on Perriello.

So one “loser” endorses another “loser”. Who cares?

They say Barack Obama’s a nice person, too, but I don’t want him to be our president. Same goes for Feda: nice does not a good congressional representative make. From statements she has made at the debates, she’s obviously out of her depth as a candidate; as a representative, she would be ineffective and, quite possibly, an embarrassment to the people of the 5th. Conservatives should expect more of their representatives than to simply recite the “correct” answer on cue.

Mike McPadden will beat Perriello once the primary is over. His focus now is to explain his all-American message, his understanding of the U.S. Constitution and what it will take to change our Country back to a Republic. Mike McPadden has been endorsed by a number of groups, for instance the Republican Liberty Caucus, Liberty Slate, Retake Congress, Liberty Candidates 2010, and bloggers at “Now at the Podium”. These are group endorsements. Liberty Slate has help raise much needed primary monies for Mike McPadden. Volunteers all across the 5th District are signing up to help Mike McPadden. Our current Congress has awaken the sleeping giant, that giant will change the face of Congress this November, but first we 5th District Citizens must decide who would be the best public servant/leader, Mike McPadden has proven he can do both while as a Naval Aviator and Missions Commander in the U.S. Navy. Mike McPadden will be a Statesman and will use Constitutional principles to guide his votes. No other Candidate has the background and knowledge Mike McPadden has. No other Candidate has served in the Military and understands the price of Freedom. No other candidate has practical solutions for today’s problems. No other candidate has been copied by the others for Mike McPadden’s message brings nods and cheers!

Mr. McPadden has some impressive qualities, but I was disappointed to learn that he does not support the death penalty. As a member of the law enforcement community, that is a deal breaker for me.

  13. SouthsideCentral April 22, 2010 23:31 pm

I’m wondering why Hoeft called this “a significant endorsement”.

  14. JR Hoeft April 23, 2010 06:05 am

I think that a person who received his party’s nomination twice to run for Congress, despite having lost twice in the general, endorsing someone in this nomination contest is “significant”. Not that it will be the endorsement that breaks Morton from the pack, just that it’s noteworthy.

  15. CardinalCrossing April 23, 2010 06:28 am

Hey Confused, you are not alone, I agree with you that certain crimes demand the death penalty. That being said I’m still a McPadden supporter in that I will never find a perfect Candidate and McPadden is almost; when it comes to being Pro-Consitutional Restraints. He wants the Federal Government to return to the restictions that our Founding Fathers wanted within the Federal Government. He wants to give the States their responsibilities and restore Liberty to all of us. I will speak with Mike McPadden about our beliefs and see if he believes if one life-sentence is given to a criminal that means no propation, no parole. I truly understand your feelings and support them but please reconsider Mike McPadden, he will make a difference in Washington DC if Elected and with the Socialism loving Democrats we need Mike McPadden to defend our U.S. Constitution.

  16. SouthsideCentral April 28, 2010 00:33 am

Sorry, JR. I don’t think it’s “significant” one bit.
