Question: Taking into account that some projections indicate a worker shortage in the future, what specific proposal do you have as the long term solution for illegal immigration?
Question: If, as it now appears likely, the Federal Government will actually erase, if not make money, on the bail out and the stimulus advocated by the Bush and Obama administrations, would you support future intervention to prevent the collapse of the national economy?
Question: Congressman Nye has on several occassions split from how the party leadership has wished that he would vote. If you are elected will you be an independent voice while in Washington or will you do what the leadership asks so that legislation can get passed even if it is bad for your district and your constituents are against the legislation?
Question: Many of us believe that the Federal Reserve MUST come back under the scrutiny of our elected officals, so that we the people can hold them accountable. Would you support current legislation to at least audit, and depending on the results of that audit, end the Federal Reserve?
Question:
If you do not win the nomination of the republican party will you endorse and fully support the party nominee?
Wish I could be there tonight. I’m sure BD the ODU CRs andthe YRs will host a terrific forum.
Good luck to all candidates.
Question: Will these questions be considered, I didn’t notice the “submit your question here” link earlier?
I would have preferred all the questions on the other thread…but I can walk and chew gum at the same time. We’ll consider these here too.
Polls show that voters are not happy with the job republican congressmen from our district have performed in the past on capitol hill and that they become so out of touch with right of center voters after elections that they do not honestly know what they really believe in.
What promises have you made with enough confidence that if you fail to deliver on them would you promise to not seek another term?
Have you ever engaged in conduct unbecoming of a future Congressman in the past two decades.
Have you ever had innapropriate relations with a collegue?
Have you ever been unfaithful to your family?
Have you ever used illegal narcotics?
On abortion, whose business is it.. the mother, the state, the federal government?
Would you support a full transparent audit of the federal reserve with no reservations?
If yes, would you prefer the findings be exposed to the public, yes or no?
If you do not support a full audit of the fed, why not? Please be specific.
Should everyone be entitled to a college education?
Should funding for trade and votech schools take recieve a higher priority over public colleges for students who wish to pursue work that does not require the time commitment and expense of college?
Would you support dollar for dollar tax credits for parents who wish to use vouchers in order to offset the costs for private or parochial school?
Does a lack of support for NASA funding reflect good or bad judgement on the part of the potus?
The causes of rising healthcare costs are: an aging population that lives longer, medical advances that provide excellent but costly care, expensive technological advances that extend life and improve quality of life, and higher expectations of care. How should the Federal government address these issues? How much should individuals spend on healthcare? How much should the government spend on healthcare?
Seniors on fixed incomes often are forced to leave home due to ever escalating tax burdens. Would you support a tax amnesty measure to protect seniors living on fixed incomes who wish to live their life in the home they bought and paid for?
James “turbo” Cohen, rumors have circulated about a candidate that was unfaithful.

“Have you ever been unfaithful to your family?”
My question to you is if his wife forgave him, why can’t you? I hate rumors and I never believe them. I know the saying is, “where there’s smoke there’s fire”, but most of the stuff that are rumors are simply that, rumors. Even if it were true, leave it alone. You are not married to any of the candidates and all the candidates are still married. Which means the wife forgave. So should you. If it is even true, which I doubt seriously.
Kathy, The nominee who is seated come November may wind up in front of Chris Mathews or some other media wonk.. This forum is just a dress rehearsal Kathy. My questions are generic and are not directed towards any particlular candidate. Please take no offense and refrain from presuming that nefarious rumor mills are grinding. If it is improper to present any particular question at an open forum, the moderator will not present it. The participating candidates should be mature enough to know how to handle themselves if any tough or uncomfortable question is submitted. There is no presumption on my part that any one candidate passes or fails but if people are interested in watching and hearing how the remaining candidates respond which some may refrain from doing, that is their prerogative.
The moderator may put some people on the spot and the attendees will make their own decisions as to whom best handles live fire questions. Do you not think the Dems are going to use fighting words this fall?
Turbo, there have been nasty posts here on BD accusing a candidate of adultery. Instead of turning this blog into a Jerry Springer show, let’s stay on the issues. That’s all I’m saying.
Kathy…blog posts are what my contributors and I write to start a discussion; blog comments are what comes after the post and are open to anyone to make.
When you say “nasty posts here on BD”, you make it seem as if I or a contributor has accused a candidate of wrong doing – and we have not. In fact, we have edited several comments that went overboard.
Innuendo reduces the credibility of the individual commenter – so, in the end, the only person they’re really hurting is themself.
JR, you nor your contributors have ever participated in this rumor I addressed, just the blog commenters. I agree with you, those that would post rumors that would hurt a person or their family hurt themselves. I am active in the RWC’s and numerous women don’t post on BD are avid readers. Unfortunately, it has been brought up. If you look back on some posts on BD, which I will not re-post here, you will see what others see. Please forgive me if I have offended you or Turbo, I do feel strongly that unless there is proof of adultery, it has no place in rumor and quite frankly, even if true, if the wife has forgiven, we should too. Last time I checked, no one is without sin.
I know you are going to stay on the issues. You are good about that JR. Thanks for all you do and again, congratulations on your 15 years of marriage with your wife. It is crystal clear you love her dearly.
I think it’s very important to know exactly where all of these folks stand on the topic of auditing the Federal Reserve System – including all monetary policy operations.
Kathy,
My point is solely one of semantics. A “post” is more or less an article and is held up to a higher standard then what might appear in the comments.
And, thank you for your kind thoughts about Patty and I. She. Is. Awesome.
Chris Stearns – you should listen to the response provided by Bert Mizusawa on the podcast.
Ditto J Christopher Stearns.. +1!
McCain was ahead in the polls until the fed roared just a month prior to 08 elections and I have long suspected foul play from the fed influence on public sentiments. The fed’s message timing and delivery distracted a weary public who was initially more concerned with national security than faltering economic reports.. this was McCains weakness and the Obama camp knew this.. (I have suspected since november 08 that exploitation of fed secrecy gave Obama supporters the inside edge he needed in the polls.)
More fed questions:
The Fed talking heads perpetuated their belief that an analytical error permitted it to state that throughout the sept 07-08 timeframe the financial crisis was contained and would not jump from the sub-prime sector to the entire financial system. The fed has been granted the authority to be the regulator of risk but to this day fails to satisfactorily explain or demonstrate how it measures it.
A. How would you define systemic risk?
B. Should Congress appoint a rotating civilian transparency committee, kind of like a jury for lack of a name, to examine why the fed permitted the avalanche of debt to course though the financial system and to hold sitting congressmen accountable for perpetually faulty risk analysis?
Got a phone call asking for clarity on the question above..
There was a well written article posted by David John of the Heritage Foundation. Here it is.. http://www.heritage.org/Research/Reports/2009/06/Financial-Systemic-Risk-Regulators-Congress-Is-Asking-the-Wrong-Questions
