Perkins Disinvited because of Opposition to DADT Repeal
By Steven Osborne | Friday, February 26th, 2010 | Catch-AllFamily Research Council President Tony Perkins was not allowed to speak at a military event at Andrews Air Force base due to his opposition to repealing the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy. The letter that was written to him explaining his uninvited status, indicated that the chaplains could not endorse statements contrary to the Commander-in-Chief’s opinions.
I do not blame the chaplains here, nor does Tony Perkins. However, there is no indication that Mr. Perkins even intended to discuss politics at all during his visit. Yet because he holds a differing view from President Obama concerning DADT he is ostracized. It should be worth noting that Tony Perkins is a former United States Marine.
This is also a demonstration of what the consequences of redefining public morality are. The attitude displayed in this incident, could very soon have legal teeth behind it. We have already seen such instances in Canada and Europe. When you empower government to lend official sanction to “alternative lifestyles” then that same government can use the new recognition to take away the liberty of others who oppose those actions on moral grounds.
This incident is just a small sampling of what could come.

These Nazi/Communist tactics of silencing anyone who speaks for traditional morality is going on big time in the military already. Chaplains told not to preach from the Bible if they speak on homosexuality. Most now is being done by informal pressure but increasingly by personnel assignments. If you are a Christian who believes in the Bible and traditional morality, you don’t get the good or visible assignments anymore.
The USAF has been forced into an enormous anti-Christian purge at the Air Force Academy the last couple of years.
We saw the former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, Gen Pace forced out under Bush and don’t expect the current Commandant of the Marine Corps, Gen Conway who spoke out against Obama’s DADT plans this week, to get another assignment.
Others are being intimidated into silence or are quietly leaving.
Watch as the moral people leave the military and we are left with only the immoral ones or worse, the ones who don’t care. They are the enablers of the evil ones.
You make some pretty inflammatory statements against our Armed Forces. Can you please supply us with your sources and present verifiable facts please?
Ben: Most of these examples are current events in the news. Hard to list all the sources without pages and pages. Everyone has covered this stuff, the liberals just bury it or spin it so I guess you missed what is really going on in our military.
You can Google Gen. Peter Pace the previous Chairman and after his comments about homosexuality being immoral and his subsequent “passover” for renomination as Chairman by Bush as a result. Sources are everything from NYT to Fox.
Gen. Conway’s comments were in every newspaper, internet news site just last week. Sorry you missed all this Ben.
You can Google for the Air Force Academy effort to de-Christianize after complaints from some that they felt Christians were evangelizing. (historically something that was officially encouraged in our armed forces since George Washington’s time). There was a commission sent to study it at Colorado Springs and then the axe fell. Recent news coverage boasted of their success.
Likewise you can easily find multiple stories on the class action lawsuit by Navy chaplains against the Navy (ongoing for several years) because believing Christians were being intimidated to change what they preach and how in base chapels and liberal chaplains were being promoted and given the best assignments and evangelical/conservative chaplains were being passed over for promotion.
Really Ben, this is all in the news and has been for several years. the sources are as numerous as the ones who covered the Chiliean earthquake this week.
I served 31 years on active duty with the Marines and the last four years working for the Navy. I have been inside the military all my life. So perhaps I am closer to this than you have been. I can give more examples from personal experience, but can’t quote you sources like all the news media for the examples I mentioned in my original post.
There are mor including outside the military, there was the case of the Swedish pastor, Ake Green arrested last year in Kalmar, Sweden for preaching from the Bible in his pulpit about homosexuality and the Swedish government charged him with hate speech. He was convicted and finally was overturned by their supreme court. I also seem to recall a case in Canada a few months ago that was similar although he wasn’t arrested, but it also fell into the government’s hate speech category for quoting the Bible.
Look Ben, you may not be a believing Christian or Jew who doesn’t want to erase the Bible’s clear instructions on this behavior, but when we we who are lose our freedoms in order to mandate acceptance for deviant sexual behavior, it won’t be long before they find a reason to restrict your speech for some other liberal interest group. You see this wasn’t about tolerance. We all tolerate things that are bad, we don’t tolerate things that are good. That was the rub, toleration implies that homosexuality is wrong. So they started demanding we accept their behavior as good, not just tolerate it.
That action if empowered with the force of law will drive good, moral people out of the military. Army Times did a survey last summer and I believe it was a sizable percentage that said they would resign or not reenlist.
A good website for you is the Center for Military Readiness http://www.cmrlink.org/
Could you please translate your blog into German as I’m not very comfortable reading it in English? I’m getting tired of using Google Translate all the time, there is a cool WP plugin called like global translator which will render all your pages automatically- that will make reading articleson your great blog even more enjoyable. Cheers dude, Leandra Gayman!
