Did Webb payback McDonnell for Kaine last year?
By JR Hoeft | Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010 | UncategorizedLast February, due to scheduling conflicts, all Republicans in the congressional delegation failed to meet with part-time governor and full-time DNC Chair Tim Kaine in Richmond.
At the time, Sen. Jim Webb said:
“Virginia has had a long history of bipartisan work when it comes to issues that transcends politics and affect the people of Virginia,” Webb said. “This is the way that a delegation should work, and for the Republican members of this delegation to decide to boycott a meeting that would benefit their constituents through their participation is something that I think is very regrettable, and I would hope we would not see something like this in the future.”
Interesting that absent at today’s congressional meeting with Gov. Bob McDonnell was….Sen. Webb.

Why should we be surprised?
Webb changes positions more often than he changes party affiliation.
Proving that it’s just “whose ox is being gored,” wasn’t no show by the GOP legislators last year “no big deal” here and elsewhere in the Republican blogosphere?
Except, Steve, that J.R. isn’t criticizing Webb for not showing. Just pointing out that Webb has criticized others for doing what he himself is now doing.
My honest guess is that J.R. couldn’t care less if Webb was there.
From what I understand, today’s meeting was productive.
I think my point DoDo was a lot of people are sick of both parties because they just go back and forth over “gotcha” stuff like this until of working together to solve real problems.
should have been “instead” there instead of “until”
Did Warner attend? Bobby Scott? Glenn Nye? Jim Moran? If so, then the absense of a single Dem legislator is not comparable to the absense of the entire delegation. Maybe Webb had a genuine conflict.
Perhaps he did. He is also the one who whined about it last year. Just a bit ironic.
Again, I could care less if Webb was there or not. But it is interesting that the guy who made such a big stink about it last year dissed the governor of the opposite party this year.
Of course, Jimmy, I understand you’re trying to do the Jedi mind trick and say, “nothing to see here.”
Perhaps you’re right.
Or, perhaps Webb only has righteous indignation when it suits his purposes.
