Sounds like Congressman Jim Moran needs a history lesson on why the Legislative Branch is set up with two houses, one based on population and one based on equality. He came on Hardball with Chris Matthews to complain that “the Senate is not really representative of this country” because he is upset that states like Wyoming and Alaska have the same weight as California and New York. Never mind, the Senate is 59% Democrat while Obama won 53% of the popular vote. But guess what, the Senate was designed to protect the small states so large states would not easily impose their agenda on them. The Senate is an internal check and balance on the legislature against the aggression of the majority but Moran is upset that since small states tend to be conservative, the liberal agenda isn’t getting passed to his liking. Oh well, remind me to thank the Founding Fathers!

One of the many examples of compromise that our government was built upon. Think of how great it would be if the same ideas of debate and compromise were employed by our current legislators.

That was great at the end how Matthews made a point to tell the other (R) congressman that “you’re a great guest”, with nuthin’ for Moran. From Chris Matthews, that says a lot. I can’t say I’m too happy that Moran is representing Virginia to the dozens of MSNBC viewers nationwide.

This is a new meme emerging. The Senate is unfair and the equal representation of states within needs to be done away with. Just one example:

New York Magazine: 100 Versus America

    A hideous version of history.

There is a reason that Matthews spent most of the discussion with Garrett and not Moran. Moran’s face was all scrunched up during the discussion as he was continuously whining and blaming like a little girl.

His complexion is also kind of pasty as he apparently has been in backrooms out of the light of day with other Democrats working out details on corrupt legislation we have been getting glimpses of every once in a while.

When I heard him say that live I couldn’t believe he was seriously making that argument? I hope Virginians send mail to Jim Moran.

That man should be thrown out of DC on his head!!!! My 12th grades know why the Senate has EQUAL representation in the Congress.
