Great Endorsement, Scott!
So now he gets an endorsement from a Congressman that lives over 2000 miles away from the District and has zero ties to Hampton Roads? Is he going for the endorsement for the Congressman from Alaska next?
I’m pretty sure you’ve made the same comment on several different endorsements, just changing the mileage on it. Do you think that the military is not important enough to respect regardless of district lines?
It matters because these men will be colleagues in Washington with whomever is picked. I get that you are with a campaign, but what your guy has been bothered with all day you indulge in ever so carelessly.
Congratulations to Scott on the endorsement! As for the comments from Bryan R., Scott has received support from the mayor of Tangier Island, an old and very tightly knit community. You don’t seem to realize that this is the United States, meaning more than one. In order to accomplish goals important to the people of this district, our chosen representative must work with the other members of Congress who, given the size of this country, are quite often from several thousand miles away. It’s usually beneficial to have their respect and support.
Hunter is a member of the House Armed Services Committee. JR failed to mention, however, that Hunter will also be attending a fundraiser for Taylor. Seems those 2000 miles just got a little bit closer.
Now I know which candidate in the 2nd I will donate to.
It is significant when other active members of Congress significantly place their reputations on-the-line to indicate they are eager to work on a professional basis with a candidate.
Unfortunately, I have mixed emotions when local elected, or especially party, officials publicly take sides in the nomination selection process. It always leaves the smell of a quid pro quo atmosphere which fouls the air of questionably ethics especially where funds are concerned.
Congratulations Scott.
Which matters more? A congressman from California? Or over a dozen current and former State Senators and State Delegates that have actually represented voters in Hampton Roads?
My Dad likes Scott too but he lives in Ohio and doesn’t get to vote here. And no I do not believe the military personnel care what some California rep thinks. I write that as a retired Navy member who only cares what local voters think and support. Scott is a smart, experianced nice guy who is a good local candidate for school board or city council positions but he hasn’t a chance in this race.
Sorry but that is my opinion.
I was wondering how long it would take for someone (most likely from another campaign) to discredit this endorsement. But that’s status quo for you. Taylor is the only candidate in this race to receive an endorsement from a sitting member of the House Armed Services Committee. Despite what Bryan and William think, this endorsement will resonate with a large portion of the electorate. Why? Because not only was this an endorsement… it was the announcement that Rep. Hunter will be attending a fundraiser for Taylor. This endorsement will equate to more fundraising dollars than that of “local State Senators and State Delegates”.
We should never forget: all politics is local. Good job Scott. This shows that the 2nd district race may have a broader appeal to the national audience; however, the fact remains-local money is what counts in a local election. Every house seat is up for grabs across the country. The RNC and RNCC will not be able to dole out dollars unless you can raise money locally-and tht RNC money will be in short supply. That said, I know Scott Taylor is working hard on raising that local money-this endorsement will help. Good luck and congratulations.
Just like the “local” money in Scott Brown’s race. Say what you will, this is impressive. no money donated by Taylor to Hunter, Burton, the Mayor of Tangier, or Chairman of the School Board Dan Edwards.
