Thoughts on the Inauguration
By Krystle Weeks | Saturday, January 16th, 2010 | PolicyFirst and foremost, I apologize about the lack of live posts. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of running my iPhone battery down to nothing prior to the ceremony.
Aside from this error, this was my first time witnessing an inauguration in person. It was an experience I will never forget. From witnessing the Drum and Fife Corp commence the ceremony to watching the Oath of Office being given to the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, and Attorney General, I was excited to witness history take place.
The Governor gave a wonderful inaugural address that was upbeat and touched upon working to improve our economy. The text of his remarks will be shared in a later post. In fact, the Governor signed two executive orders into effect: One which established the Chief Job Creation Officer, and the other one which established the Commission on Government Reform.
After the ceremony ended, the Inaugural Parade took place featuring marching bands and groups throughout the Commonwealth.
Tonight, I will have pictures and a post from the Inaugural Ball. This has been an exciting day. Congratulations Governor McDonnell, Lieutenant Governor Bolling, and Attorney General Cuccinelli!
