Kerry Bolognese Declares for the 41st House Seat
By | Wednesday, January 13th, 2010 | Politics

Kerry Bolognese, who challenged Dave Marsden for his former House seat, has just declared that he will be running for the open House seat. Bolognese came within 209 votes of defeating Marsden in the general election.

SPRINGFIELD, VA (January 13, 2010) – Kerry Bolognese of West Springfield announced today his candidacy for the Virginia House of Delegates from the 41st district. “This is a very critical time for taxpayers in Burke and West Springfield to have no representation in Richmond’s House of Delegates. Decisions will be made affecting transportation funding, taxes, education, and spending that will impact our lives. We need a strong voice that puts the interests of our families and our community first,” Bolognese said

“My platform is straightforward,” Bolognese continued. “It is all about economic growth and job creation. Toward that end, I will work to make sure Virginia has a business friendly environment. We need to control spending, keep taxes in check, get more transportation dollars for Northern Virginia, and ensure our students receive a quality education.”

“When I ran just a few short months ago, I loved walking the neighborhoods and getting to know more intimately the interests and concerns of our area. I would be deeply honored to have their confidence and trust and represent them in Richmond. If elected, I will work to bring businesses and jobs to West Springfield and Burke.” Bolognese concluded.

UPDATE: Governor Tim Kaine has just set the special election for the 41st House District for March 2, 2010, with the filing deadline for candidates being January 29, 2010. Below is Kaine’s statement:

“It is important that the voters of the 41st district have a voice in the legislative process,” Governor Kaine said. “Holding the special election on March 2 will not only give voters time to learn about the candidates, but will allow for the distribution and return of ballots from voters overseas, including our men and women in the armed forces.”
