McWaters wins in a landslide, will deliver GOP response to governor tomorrow
By JR Hoeft | Tuesday, January 12th, 2010 | PoliticsJeff McWaters has become Virginia Beach’s next State Senator by winning in impressive fashion: defeating his opponent by 57 points (78-21%)! Tomorrow, after being sworn in at noon in Richmond, McWaters will give the GOP response to the governor’s address on the “State of the Commonwealth.”
More from the new Senator:
“Thank you for your tremendous support over these last nine months. I am truly looking forward to serving the people of Virginia Beach and making good on the themes of my campaign: recruiting businesses to create jobs, cutting the size and cost of government, and prioritizing transportation projects while getting our fair share of transportation funding,” says McWaters. “I thank all who voted today on this cold Tuesday in January. I am continually astounded by the commitment of over four hundred volunteers that has been the backbone of my campaign from the beginning. A special thank you to my friends, family and supporters and know that I fully plan to deliver for Virginia Beach and this region while serving as your senator in Richmond. Now it’s time to get to work for all of the citizens of the 8th senate district. Make no mistake, I am a conservative Republican but my door will be open to all, Republican, Democrat or independent.”

Congratulations Jeff! Give Timmy Hell Tomorrow!
What a GREAT inauguration present for McDonnell (-1) in the Senate! Way to go, Dave Marsden, our new Democratic Senator in the 37th District!
Congrats on your win. Please find some new sound bytes. Former president Bush owns “Make no mistake”.
Face it: Fleming’s bizarre ideas on transportation made him undesirable to many Dems, including The V-P Editorial Board. Am I the only one who has noticed the Dems can’t even come close to winning a special election in Virginia Beach?
Congratulations Jeff. You and your team did an excellent job with this campaign.I look forward to your leadership in Richmond.
