About the author

Brian Kirwin

The right wants to jeer him. The left wants to censor him. Moderates usually want both. Brian Kirwin is a political consultant and public relations strategist in Virginia Beach with a lightning-rod flair. Brian also serves on the VB Arts & Humanities Commission and frequently appears on Hampton Roads theatrical stages, if only to prove that all actors aren’t liberals. Kirwin’s columns stir up debate and hit the political scene with no punches pulled.

“I thought he would have learned (the rules) by now!” They know exactly what the rules are and use them to their advantage. Sen. Baucus was doing that to minimize any potential fallout from Sen. McCain. Way to go, John!

Yeah. John McCain, the guy who’s had “socialized, government health care” every day of his life, EXCEPT the 5 1/2 years he spent as a captive in North Vietnam, takes a principled stand against letting the American people have what the citizens of every other civilized country in the world have. But you guys don’t have to worry, the insurance industry has bought enough folks on both sides of the aisle to insure that we won’t actually fix our health care mess.
